Are there any good recording forums out there? I've read some stuff on homerecording.com and harmony-central, but I hope there are better ones that I haven't uncovered.

Basically what I am looking for are tips on doing the best recording, feedback on mp3s, gear reviews, etc. Lots of professional or semi-professional forumites wouldn't hurt. My one big complaint about the home recording forum is the discrepancy between the opinions (by this $3000 preamp or else your recording will suck) and the quality of the recordings that get posted (decent, but definitely not good enough to support the amount of money that gets spent on the gear).

Any suggestions for the recording forum most like The Gear Page? I like the All About Recording forum here, but it is pretty slow.

Thanks,
Bryan

A good UK source of recording information is the SOUND ON SOUND magazine web site.

Gearslutz is a pretty nice balance between both worlds.

I'm the moderator at H-C, it's good, but been overrun lately with "Best mic for $100" questions and a lot of the pros don't participate as much anymore. A shame, really because it's very civil - never been a flamewar, unlike other H-C Forums.

BTW, if you've got ears, you can make a great record on just about anything. Like guitar, it's not really about the gear, but that's the one thing that you can discuss objectively. Somewhat. <g>

All you need are a few weeks of time and some beer and the search function here:
