ROTHNROLL

Short review- Got this a week ago-
Some people like Relic's.
The first time I saw a Fender relic I remember thinking that "you must be a real moron to pay for relicing"
Well, they have grown on me.
Not necessarily the looks. The Feel.
I played one of the Rory Strats in June and haven't stopped thinking about it.
Now I like relics.
There are some things that are good reliced.
Guitars = Yes
Women = No. Stretchmarks and floppy breasts are a sign of relicing on women and must be refinished or rebuffed ASAP
I have a EJ and a 62 Thinskin and thought I had my bases covered?
Right?
Wrong-
The neck really fits like a glove. It feels natural in your hands. It is very worn in. The body and neck are silky smooth and this is the most comfortable guitar I have ever played.
It feels like it's supposed to be there, sort of like I just cupped a nice set of breasts.
The pickups sound warm and bluesy, and overdriven really shine.

Pickups -
Worn in Feel -
Price - I got a good deal from a dealer
Weight - This one is light
Before I did a setup I noticed that I could drop gain in spades on this guitar without squealing.
I took off the pickguard and noticed this

The body cavities are stamped with "Relic"
I took off the neck and the neck and the neck pocket are stamped the same
I noticed that the body was not shielded. I expected that, but I was wondering why this guitar could handle feedback so well
I then noticed that the guitar had 2 pickguards.
It has an anodized pickguard underneath the normal pickguard.
I recently shielded a few of my guitars and what I should have done was tried this method first. It still has 60 cycle hum, but doesn't sound like someone is skinning a cat whenever I crank the juice!

Not really liking the mismatched tuner.
Not 100 percent on the looks. Maybe 98%. I haven't owned something this reliced before. Fender did do a very good job making it look realistic in person.
The setup was poor... but really I don't know whose fault that is. It probably sat in a warehouse the entire winter. Within an hour I was ready to go.
I also had to rewire the tone so that it worked on the bridge pup. Sorry Rory. I can't see anyone wouldn't want it like that.
That is about it for a review- Not sure if anyone reads those anyways.
You have to try one. It's really great.
I will try to post a few video clips in the next day or so.
Wanna see what Italy looks like in September (not Italian - US Army stationed in Vicenza Italy)
