I was reading about this record in GP Tricks(his first recording in 4 years).Man,he may be 60,but he still writes up a storm, sings, and the man can still play guitar.A combination of jazz/rock/soul/old R&B concepts and pop songwiting sensibilites.Very solid lyrics.I have been stuck in the first listen with interuptions, but I really remember what I have enjoyed about Todd,in the years that have crawled by.Four and a half of Five very Rockin Stars-Adventures in Utopia is still my fave-but not by much.

Big Todd fan here.
Thanks for the heads up.
Not only is Todd a prolific performer/writer and producer but he was on the forefront of the interactive digital medium/media via music early on.
A wizard and a true star.

Saw him last year. I just wasn't feeling it.

That said, I love some of the records.

Caught him about 2 years back. His band: Tony Levin, Jesse Gress, Jerry Marotta. Ridiculously awesome...

Just picked up Arena, I really like it! Lots of Todd guitar playing, lots of
different appoaches...from modern to old school and blues. Even an
AC/DC nod in there. Good stuff, check it out.

I went to see Todd Rundgren at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA last night. Great show. He had a 5-piece band featuring Prairie Prince (drums) and Kasim Sultan (keys/guitar) plus another lead guitarist (name?) and a woman playing bass (name?). Everyone but the drummer sang, which allowed for a lot of really nice harmony singing. They opened up with a bunch of his older, more power-pop oriented stuff and then played all of Arena. They did a somewhat obscure cover that I recognized, and which someone at my table identified, but I don't recall it now.

From time to time someone, Todd I think, was getting kind of a jangley acoustic sound which I think may have been a piezo mounted on his Strat. You can hear an example in the opening of this youtube vid:

Anyone know what that is?
