So....watched a bit of Maiden in Rio last night...I didn't realize the Crocodile Hunter sang for them? Also...who was the 3rd guitar player? He was running around doing every 80's metal pose (which I appreciated) and was about 60 years old...no idea who he was, or why he was upstaging the two maiden players...anyone see that last night? One things for sure...I would love to play Rock in Rio sometime...always the best audience!!

I watched some of it last night. I thought those guys still rock pretty hard! Their material is pretty underrated I think as far as its intricacy and sophistication.

I can hear how Metallica got some of its influence as far as harmony lines goes.

I was filping channels and got real excited when I saw it was on, then really bummed to see it was ending in 1 minute. I missed it! Hopefully they're air it again...

Odd, I just popped the DVD in last night for a few tunes worth of viewing.

Janick Gers is the 3rd guitarist. Some love him, some hate him (let's not make this a hater thread, eh>?). FWIW, Adrian said that Janick's addition was a big reason he returned to the band. I enjoy him. It's a whole different dynamic nowadays. I love classic Maiden, and just as much with Janick on board.

Story I heard about RIR is that Bruce trashed a camera during the show, broke it or whatever, and when they went to mix the DVD, Maiden realized that the footage from the camera that filmed Dave Murray was missing. They assumed that the pissed off camera crew took it since Bruce damaged their camera. Something to that extent. Watch the video - Davey doesn't have much screen time.

UP THE IRONS!

I saw Iron Maiden a few times in the 80's and I thought they were better back then. But I don't think it was their fault. The mix sounded terrible on that concert. You could barely hear Bruce Dickenson's vocals. If I were the band I would fire the sound guy...the rest of the band sounded great...just too loud for the vocals. In the 80's Bruce's voice was always center stage!

I tried watching but the camera cutting every 2-3 seconds put me off, I couldn't hang with it.

Not a fave Maiden DVD... Ugh

Janick Gers is the third guitar player. The Early Years DVD rules. The pro shot European ones for the Early Years Tour (Sweden etc) are fantastic

Courtesy of Steve Harris' editing. Death on the Road is like that - it took me a few viewings to be able to hang with it easier.

Rewatched "Live After Death" the other afternoon.

Best concert video ever IMO.
