That guy is awesome. Lately when I get into a rut and I feel like I'm using 'stock licks' I think WWJD (What Would Jim Do?)
To think he can make an entire instrumental album that's engaging and interesting with just a tele, cable, and a princeton....

I can't get enough of that stuff. Jim should do cartoon soundtracks.

Which CD's of his do you recommend?

Tough to choose. 'Heaven is Creepy' has some interesting, moody stuff on it. The Ten Gallon Cats CD's are it for me, though, between Jim and the dude on pedal steel it's win-win.

I like Heavy quite a bit.

American Hips and Heaven is Creepy are also very good.

Live at the Cafe Dunord (I know I butchered the spelling) is one of my favorite albums period. I like Jim's playing best with either a pedal steel guitar or an accordian. I wish he would do a whole album with an accordian player. I also wish that he just recorded live albums.

Look at that guitar. It has been played so much the maple board looks like rosewood. Yet the body doesn't even look close to some of the relic jobs today.

He sure gets a lot of mileage out of that Tele and Princeton.

I like Jim C a lot; Ten Gallon Cats stuff seems to be my fave - I loved Live at the DuNord, but it's very uneven - normal/too-soft-to-hear/normal/etc.

This is hip (poorly recorded, but extremely hip):

He's a master player for sure. Great stuff.
