Only 2 tunes into it, but I am digging this immensely. Anyone else got theirs yet?

Pretty great disk. Great version of Wayne Shorter's "Lost."

I got a kick out of how there was a guitar pick taped to the CD cover. I ended up buying the autographed version from abstractlogix.com.

It's a lot to digest, but it's all good.

I think Jimmy should cut a CD with Bruce and Baker and name it, "Herring with Cream."

Or do a CD with a totally RED Jewel Case.
You know what it would be called!

Great stuff. I am really liking this disc. I've only spun it a couple of times, but can't wait for more of it to REALLY sink in. I'll jump in Jimmy's Lifeboat any time.

What a profound record... Derek Trucks on guitar is killer

So is Jimmy. :)
Nice combination of those two together...kinda like havin' Duane and
JohnnyMac on the same record.
*I got the CD/T-shirt/signed pick today. I've listened to the first 3 tracks...wow!
This CD is gonna get some heavy rotation the next few weeks around here.

When I listen to Jimmy I have to make myself listen as just a music fan. I can't listen as a guitar player because I want to be able to play what I hear but it's so far beyond my reach that I can't and it pisses me off.

His tone and phrasing is pretty amazing. This is my first real exposure to him. I have ARU cd somewhere, but that is it.

I can't get over the tone this dude has. It is amazing.

The Indian oriented stuff that Herring and Trucks do is just so beautiful. Sometimes it's difficult to tell which is which. Jimmy's playing is so fluid and he's getting into a similar tone zone on those songs as well.

A friend of mine called this a "mature jazz fusion album", as opposed to a showcase for guitar wankery. Pretty accurate observation.

Sweet! I'm glad to see this thread making the rounds again, as people take it in. One thing that I am noticing more & more is Oteil! Man, that cat's got groove all over his baddass self. If anyone has been limited to only hearing it with iPod buds, wait until you hear it through a decent system. Oteil really comes to life in this regard. Jeff too. I think Jimmy really went out on a limb, so to speak. A lot of this material seems very personal, and I think he took a sizeable risk just letting it out there. He really seems to be the kinda guy that wears his heart on his sleeve, anyway. I sure hope it is acquiring some successful sales, as to pave the way for more down the road. (Yep, always thinking about numero uno) :AOK

Sucha greedy bastard, I am!

Call me TGP uncool, but I just can't get into the album. It's just too fusion for me. It's not the playing, or the jazz... I think I just need more stank in my music than I get from most fusion.

Wanna hear something wild? Go find the mid-1970s live Miles Davis albums with Pete Cosey on guitar. He will BLOW YOUR MIND.

I am listening to this thing all the time right now. Sometimes on the stereo, the rest of the time in my head. I love it all but I have to mention, Jungle Book Overture is such a treat. What a great player, as are all the rest of the guys on the record. Such a treat, I am very inspired!

It's kinda weird, as I've seen Herring live a number of times, but am just now really getting him. Thank you for the gift, Jimmy.

OK, I just picked this cd up a few days ago, and I think it is OUTSTANDING!

The main thing that stands out for me is the composition. To my ear, most of this falls squarely in the Weather Report/Return to Forever/Tribal Tech camp, without sounding like a ripoff or failed attempt to emulate any of those bands.

The players are all of the highest caliber, and solo their asses off without ever sounding rushed or patternistic.

I also believe Jimmy has come into his own voice. I can immediately recognize certain stylistic moves he does, tone things, a certain way of moving into bends, etc., that are identifiable even though he is not just repeating licks from other songs or bands.

On the strength of this CD, I would call these guys some of the best players working in fusion today. I love it!

Welcome to the party! Yes, I have been digging on this disc for a while now, and find it to be one I'll go back to again and again. Oh, you should check out Ed DeGenaro's Less is Seldom More. It is truly inspired, for sure! Sonically delicious.
