Still great. I love the character of the oud. Lately, I'm finding that guitars sound too familiar and my ear is drawn to less familiar (to me, at least) sounds. Spice.

Beautiful playing............ did you notice that alot of the time he was using his 2nd, 3rd & 4th fingers for something most people would start on there 1st finger !

That is so stunningly beautiful
I'm curious -
What about him makes him one of your favorite players of this instrument?
Any recordings you'd recommend?

i was sure we'd spoken (via email?), since;
no?
in any case: yes!
quite a few yrs ago:
i acquired, via my friend dhafer youssef,
a beautiful 7-course bashiri oud made for me by yaroub med. fadhel.

I'm not sure we've spoken or emailed since, actually, though I've joined your colleague Geoffrey Gordon on some gigs out here.... nice to connect here!
Glad to see you found a good oud, and a Fadel at that! I sold my Fadel, went through some Turkish ones, but missed the Iraqi construction -- found an older 7 course Fadel (by Yaroub's uncle) last year and love it...
