Hi all,
I have a Dr Z Maz Jr Reverb combo. Love it. Until tonight. I as playing and decided the volume needed to go UP. So, I cranked the volume knob on my guitar. Volume increased. Momentarily and then decreased by like 90% permanently.
Now I can still hear it working but the output is way down.
Any advice on where to start (tomorrow when I am off the scotch)?
Thanks for any help.

Great advice. More scotch - no open amp :rotflmao

Better yet, don't sober up. Drink until Sunday night, then get sober, then get the Doc's number on Monday morning.

I like scotch but I like to have a real life in the daytime so the scotch ends in about 15 minutes. :banana
Unless someone with a background says it is something simple like a tube I'm not doing anything anyway. As a trained graduate as an electronic tech who hasn't used an oscilliscope or soldering iron for over 25 years I know my limitations :rotflmao

Thanks. Now it's morning and I am sober I'll take her out and try that. I think I have some tubes that match. Need coffee to make the menory work.

I agree on the output tubes, that'd be where I'd start.

I called Dr Z today. They said try the output tubes ;)
Now as soon as new tubes arrive in the mail I am heading out to the garage to fix it. I think it will be pretty easy.

Yeah, probably tubes. This happened to me at an audition last week on my Deluxe. The ONE TIME I didn't have a backup in the car!

Wouldn't this be better titled " Amp problem"?? Seems unfair to DrZ who's amps are extremely reliable especially when not drinking booze....

I suppose Dr Z AMP problem is more accurate. Anyone opening the thread will rapidly get the probem and not hold it against them as it certainly isn't my intent to disparage them. I love my Maz Jr.
And I'd change it but don't know how so....
PS - I think the Dr Z amps are reliable even when I AM drinking booze LOLs

As others have said .... a new matched set of output tubes.
EL84JJ in a medium output that meets EL84 design spec.

I have a matched set of EL84 JJ medium on order. :AOK Hoping to see them tomorrow. I'm not hurrting now, playing the Matchless and London 65. But I do like the Z. Want it BACK :dude

As far as the London ... also one of my favorite amps on the planet.

Tell the truth I am still figuring it out. I watched a great video on a link from a thread here and learned a lot. But I am curious if it is possible to get into the good tone without killing your ear drums.
