Hello,

I live in Gatineau, Québec, across the river from Ottawa, Ontario. I've been messing with electronics for a few years now. From tube amps to synthesizers. Recently, I decided to start a business full time. I design and manufacture guitar effects pedals.

Currently, I have one product: The Barbershop Overdrive. It's a great little pedal that has a lot more to offer than what you would expect from an overdrive. It's not a clone by the way, this is an original design. I could try to spin fancy terms to describe it but instead will only tell you that you have to try it to hear what I mean. Check out the News section of my site to see who has a Barbershop in store.

I'm also working on a few other projects: a ring modulator, a gate/fuzz kind of thing and lots more...

The ring modulator is almost ready and sounds amazing. The response from people who have tried out the prototype is great, they all loved it.

Thanks everybody.
Any questions, comments or concerns are welcomed.

There are clips of the Overdrive (http://www.fairfieldcircuitry.com/B.html) on the website. Check them out. (give time for the effect to kick in on the 1st and 3rd one)

Clips of the other pedal will come out as soon as we are close enough to production. But since you asked, here's a little sample I had lying around of the Ring Modulator used in the sub audio range for a trem/vibe kind of deal.

I bought a barbershop OD the other day, and is is absolutely fantastic. What did you use as inspiration for this pedal? Good job on the OD...keep it up!

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

The inspiration comes from many places, but particularly these 2 articles:

"Tubes vs. Transistors: Is There An Audible Difference?" by Russel O. Hamm
"JFETS: The New Frontier, Part 1" by Erno Borbely

Apart from that, many other articles and websites shaped the way I perceive audio electronics. I'd really like to get into the technical mumbo jumbo of what makes distortion what it is but I don't think this is the right place.

Essentially, I built a circuit that sounded different than other distortion/overdrives I had tried. I liked it, and almost everyone who tried it liked it as well. I tried many variations but always came back to its simplest form. After a few years I decided it was time to make it into a product.

That's pretty much it.

Guillaume,

I was in NYC this past weekend with a friend and we stopped in BB King's Blues Club on Times Square. While at the bar we struck up a conversation with two wonderful people, who turned out to be your parents. They were going to see a sax player, who's name I can't remember, and were killing time until that concert started. Anyway we got to talking about music and I said that I had been playing guitar for about 5 years and have been having a blast the entire time. Your dad then told me about your business. They were a lot of fun and are great ambassadors for your business. I'm going to visit your site and buy a barbershop pedal. I bet it'll sound great with the new Epiphone Prophecy GX I just picked up.

Please tell your follks I say hello and hope to run in to them again. Hope their concert was worth staying up that late for.
