Ulbricks are absolutely beautiful amps. I played through a Verbovibe 30 a few weeks ago and it totally blew me away!

While I don't own an Ulbrick amp, I've played a few at my local, own the 12AXE and Megalodon pedals, and have said the odd "hoy" to Dave.
Every one of those experiences has either left me with jaw-to-floor or similar. Not only are all Dave's products world class but he's also a stand up guy. I can certainly see an Ulbrick amp in my future due not only to their undeniable sound but Dave's excellent reputation and great service.

Nice sounding clip. Very touch sensitive. That tone sounds more like it's coming from the player than the amp, but it's nice to have an amp that can translate that kind of feeling into sound. :)

Sounds fine. Slightly plinky Strat into a clean amp. How unusual:jo?
The only way to evaluate an amp like this is to use it yourself.

'Not the usual suspects' was in reference to the player (I suspect not many outside Australia would have heard of him ... and not too many more in Australia ... at least not lately and under the name Irwin Thomas) and the amp maker ... if that's what you meant by 'How unusual:jo'
Sure you have to plug in yourself ... but at least a clip gives you an idea what's possible.

Made me think we were checking out the amp. The tone, as I mentioned, seemed fine, but good tone from an unusual amp is not an unusual occurence. Unusual tone from a common amp....that's harder to find, or unusual tone from an unusual amp, or...whatevah!:banana

I found a great sound out of necessity. I can't afford a boutique amp so I traded my amp and got a Bugera 333xl half stack. The first thing I did was replace the crappy chinese tubes. So ... I went with a quad of JJ KT88's and calmed the high gain screams with a JJ gold pin at7 in V3 and GE 5751 in V1 I kept the V2 and V4 tubes stock. I also plug in to the low gain input. I turn the master to 5 and run the onboard gate and she is quite.
Then I run a Keeley SD-1 with the gain dialed back on the clean channel for some really light overdrives. Between that and the 2 dist. channels I have all bases covered.
Next step is get my kay reverb working. It's transistor but uses an accutronics tank. If I can run this through my loop I won't need to use the digital reverb in the head. That is the only short comming with this amp.
I can't believe I ran stumbled onto this. I just got lucky that this local music store became a Behringer Dealer because he can't afford to deal Marshall, Fender etc. Even better was I did it through trading my 01 Concert Reverb Fender Tube Amp. With no cash involved!

The dropping Aussie dollar makes these amps great value for those of you in the States now. They have just got 33% cheaper over the last two months. Get on to 'em!
