Hi, can anyone suggest some cool settings for a Dr. Z. maz Jr? Thanks.

I'm going to use "clock" notation, where a knob set to the middle is "noon."

It likes to have the Master at least half-way up (Noon) . However, you can get really gainy in a good way with the Master at 9:00 and the Volume at 3:00

Most of my guitars really hate the Cut knob, but I have a Harmony with P-13 pickups (precursor to P-90) that loves the Cut knob. Try it. It's a cool thing, when it works. What it does to a Strat is either really great, or horrible, depending on what you like.

This puppy should prolly be moved to the Amps section, but I can back up what's already been said: pump up that master as much as you can muster! The regular Volume I usually keep around 3:00, pump the mids to 2:00+ for more of a plexi-type vibe, or cut the mids totally for more Fender-y Deluxe-ish vibe. I rarely push the treb or bass past 12:00, but that depends on the room and the axe/pickups. I usually like the Cut knob around 11:00, but will drop it down to 9:00 if I'm engaging an especially bright Tele. :D There are sooo many great combinations on this amp, this is just my .02

I've got a Maz Sr. through a Z Best cab. Guitars are a PRS Custom 24 and Suhr Tele. Right now, I'm liking running the Cut right off, Master where I need it, Bass at 10:00, Mid at 1:00, Treble at 11:00 and Volume at 12:00.

My friend sets his Maz 18 at everything on '10' (Not the clock settings, the level) And then setting his volume dependent on the room.

He gets great tone too. (Strat style guitars)

I like that chart. I got ahold of it a while ago. Some great tones to be had. Really shows off how versatile the Maz can be.

Oh heck yeah!!!
Great chart!

I'm normally set Volume around 2:00, EQ's at Noon. But i've done some playing/recording with the eq's dimed, with the Volume around 3:00. Much more aggressive. I'm using Esquire or Tele.

Oh and don't believe that "red Z's have more mojo" crap. Maz's sound best in black & white!!! :YinYang
