OK, I got to play it at high levels today finally. What a bizarre piece of gear. It really takes some fussing with to get into the zone with. The amp needs to be really cooking also for the sounds to merge into one thick line. I ran it into my Zen 2 to help it out some since my EL84 18 watt combo needs a little help in this area.

My apologies though for leaving my H2 at home and not recording it. I think that I can find some good recorded tones in this setup and I'll try that in the next few weeks:

Partscaster w/ CS 54's > Sunface > Zen 2 > Clyde > HK 18 watt 1 X 12

Yes, with some rigs they are not so easy to get great tones, but your patience will be rewarded. Have fun and let us know if you get any cool recorded tones.

I love mine into a ZD2, and always into a Klon - also into an EL84 amp (Goodsell) -

unpredictable - hell yes!
its really gig dependant - when its not right I get feedback (too close to amp maybe) -but when its right its such a rich rainbow of color and on the edge tone with using the volume control on my tele, absolutely not like anything else I've ever tried.
That 60s warmth is undeniably groovy.

I find them easy to get along with, crank the two knobs and away you go!

I wish I hadn't sold mine. Didn't really get along with my last amp but would love to try one again with my current amp.

I won't ever sell this one. It's got the rare red dot English NKT 275's in it and it's right on for me. When I'm talking about getting good recorded tone based on this effect, this is what I'm shooting for:

With my guitar's volume on 10 my Sun Face is too bassy and smears the sound. With my guitar's volume on 9 or lower it is the greatest fuzz I have ever used. Love it!

Yes, with my volume knob dimed, the low end is too much, but anything else, e.g. 9.9, .9.8., etc., it is very good with a Strat into a Marshall.

Yes, that was my experience too even with the F knob running at about 3 o'clock.

It seems like the guitar volume and fuzz levels are interactive. Is that what's going on?

I love the Sunface side of my Sunlion (love the Beano side, too)...I run the fuzz dimed, volume anywhere between 7 and 9. Lots of people love it through Marshall type amps (so do I), but I'm amazed at the sound I get through my DRRI. Just an awesome roar that has no business coming out of such an unassuming amp. Cleans up beautifully and stacks very well with my Timmy for a lead boost. GREAT pedal.

Yes, that is the secret to getting the most out of FF style fuzzes.

That's exactly what the white "clean" trimpot inside is used for, you can preset the "guitar at 9" sound so you can keep the guitar all the way up.

Glad you like it!

I personally love having that extra bit of thick compressed fuzz with the guitar volume maxed. I don't use it all the time, but man sometimes it gives such sweet spit and oscillation! Plus, If you run a wah before and max it out like that, it's pure Hendrix heaven!

That is going to be very useful. I always like the sound at 9 on my guitar. I might try setting the "Ceiling" on the pedal at 9 and adjusting the guitar volume from there. I didn't realize there was an internal pot. I didn't think I was cut out for a fuzz pedal, but this thing is pretty interesting. Let's face it, if Marc Ford likes it, there is a good chance that we all need one.

May I suggest... If you get the chance... You all try the high gain version...
