I didn't get to play on this tour but it's cool that there is some live footage of the band.

John,
I'm doing well. Been working a lot.. . programming that is. Also I've been playing a lot of weddings lately. I'm just about finished with a CD project for a friend of mine who recorded it at my house. I'm the cheapest studio in town ... Free!
How have you been? I was wondering lately how you did in that song contest you entered for the Hockey League. I was mighty impressed with what I heard.
Take care.

No I didnt get the Hockey Gig-there was like 15,000 entries or something-
rather silly the whole thing.
I wouldnt mind a few wedding-up here they pay triple what bar gigs do.
I think I just threw out my tux tho..
did you record with Mallard?-whats/where is the history etc..
Great by any time/standard

John,
Mallard was a band started by Bill Harkleroad (Zoot Horn Rollo) and Mark Boston (Rockette Morton) after they quit Captain Beefheart's Magic band.
They got some money from Ian Andersen and recorded one of the first albums for Virgin records. They didn't really have a band together so they moved back to the desert (Antelope Valley) from Northern CA and put a band together which included me and John Thomas (The keyboard player you see on the youtube video.) John and I had been playing together for a number of years although we were only 20 and 22 years old respectively. We rehearsed for many months waiting for some more money to come in and do a 2nd record and played a couple of gigs in our hometown of Lancaster, CA. We finally ran out of money so John and I moved to L.A. to play in a top 40 rock band. Virgin records finally came through with some money about a year after we quit and they didn't have a budget for two guitar players but John was able to get the gig. They also got another drummer to do the 2nd records as Al Guzman had gone on to play with the Ice Folleys.
The band recorded both records in England, did one or two gigs and then broke up.
John has been with Bruce Hornsby for 20 years and he and I still play and record occasionally. I talk to Bill and Mark occasionally but have'nt seen them in years.
