Hello there gang.
I have been getting a lot of calls from this company MILLS ACOUSTICS asking us to consider taking on the dealership at the store. I am looking for some input from you folks as to any reviews you can give to me.
Obviously, the company it saying they make great stuff, that they blow away MESA. MARSHALL etc and a few other companies, But I have been down that road so many times its scary.

Whats the real skinny on this company and there products? Any help is very much appreciated!

I will tell you what this is one of those things you need to try to believe. I have played and owned allot of cabs. I own Mesa amps, a hot rodded marshall and soon to take delivery of a Plexi.

Here is the deal, these cabs are monsters. clarity bass, and allows better control of the amp. The speakers run more efficiently, and allow you to really crank the amp and keep the focus. Forget the days of boominess and say hello to tone of the amp.

This speaker cabinet is the best money you can spend. There is something to be said about a good cab design. It took my boogies to an entirely different level that could not be achieved with any type Bogner or Marshall cab. The Mesa cabs sound like toys compared to it.

I bought mine used (4x12) used. I immediately sold my bogners and bought a 2x12. I still have a marshall 4x12 just because you have to have one right?.... but in all seriousness These are the best cabs you can buy. I am positively convinced, and if you own a bogner, diezel, Mesa, Elmwood, or higher gain amp, you owe it to yourself to try one of these.

Plus Dave is a heck of a nice guy, knows his stuff and is an honest man who has integrity. your store at the end of the would be affiliating with a good person and company.

Do it and don't look back:BEER

Hi Jack, another owner chiming in.

I just want to reiterate everything that fixxxer said, they are wonderful cabs. Easily the best I've used. I've owned and used some very good cabs, Marshalls, Boogies, Framus, Buddas, TTs, etc., and the Mills has surpassed all of them in quality and sound IMO. I was skeptical of the claims by the company, but happened to find one used, so I went for it. I have to say, it's everything Dave said it was and more. I've used it with Splawns, Diezels, Bogners, Makos, Mesas, etc., and it's brought out the best each amp could deliver. Settings that would fart out or harsh out my other cabs hold up perfectly with the Mills. It's one of the few products I've tried that's actually lived up to the hype.

After owning my first Mills for almost a year, my second one is currently on order. I am completely convinced they are simply the best cabs you can get. I wouldn't be buying one new if I genuinely didn't feel that way, as I try to find used gear whenever possible.

Dave has been a class act, and a pleasure to deal with. As I said, I got my first Mills used, and Dave quickly replied to all my questions and requests knowing full well I didn't buy it new. He was actually happy for me, and was surprised I was able to find one used. In the last year searching for another, I now know how lucky I was. You just don't see these cabs used, people just don't get rid of them. I know my tastes may change in amps, but it's comforting to know the Mills will bring out the best of whatever amp I own at the time.

I do a lot of lurking here, but don't post. Obviously I browse the emporium quite a bit, lol. I just thought I had to chime in on what I consider to be a great company, and a great product. :AOK

Yeah I don't know if clips will do justice. Clips cannot capture projection or what you experience in the amount of EQ control you gain with your amp when you use the cab.

ALLOT of people claim no hype just good product, this is the only guy that delivers.

Can you get a good old Marshall cab - high end bite/sizzle out of the Mills ? All the clips I've heard sound great but they're definitely on the smooth/round side. (3 doors down, several other clips on Mills's Myspace).

Which cab is harsher, Bogner 4x12 or Mills 4x12 ?

thanks

yeah, this is definitely true. You can't really capture how good it sounds live, and what it does to allow your amp's EQ to open up. That's huge imo. I have some clips, but they are mainly metal clips, so I don't know how interested people would be. They also don't capture how good it sounds in the room. These are all double tracked, but no post processing or post EQ.

I'm working on something right now, just a rough clip testing out how 2 amps track. This is a 5150 and a Krankenstein+. It can definitely sizzle if you want it to. Keep in mind this is pretty rough though. :BEER

Thanks man, everything sounds great. All your various amps in the clips sound different but the Mills hugeness comes through in all of them. I am mainly interested in metal clips, so don't worry about that !

I'd love to hear one in a D or E tuning. Also when mic'ing do you mic close to the center of the cone or ???

Keep up the good work:JAM

How'd you like it w/G1265s ? I love those speakers. Actually I like all the ones you mentioned but 65s are probably my favourite purely for tone.

Thanks man. How about a drop C# tuning? I've been planning on experimenting with that tuning on a 6 string anyway, so I'll try and throw something together for you. I'll shoot you a PM when it's ready. Most of my clips are using a 7 string in B standard or Bb right now, and I've found that really tests the limit of a cab. I usually dual mic with an e906 on the cone, right up against the grill, and an SM57 off the edge. Unfortunately, I'm having some issues with my e906 atm, so I may need to pick up another mic before I make more clips. :(

btw, the cab I ordered is coming with V30 x G12H30 as of right now, so I'll have some more tests with the new speakers in a few weeks. :AOK

C# sure ! Maybe another one using your 7 string, but riff in E or Eb, ignoring the bottom string. I like ultra low tunings and use them myself sometimes, but its harder to guage the quality of 'tone' in the traditional sense, the lower you go IMO.

Congrats on the 2nd cab. They'll both be 4x12s I take it ?

Yeah, whenever you finish a new clip PM it over. Much appreciated :BEER

BTW do you record loud ?

Are you fellows buying these cabinets from your local dealer or are you purchasing them through internet sales?

I would have loved to have a local dealer, but I purchased mine thru his site. It would saved me money, even with taxes, since the 4x12's only ship freight.

My 2x12 I bought from him directly. 4x12 picked up on a whim, which led to my purchase. Had there been a dealer here I would have bought them from there.

Hey all...

Cool to see so many fans of Mills cabs... they are amazing. Need to be heard to be believed.

I love my Afterburner 412A. Unfortunately, I have to unload it... I sold my van, and my car won't carry it :). I'm going to immediately pick up a Mills 212 when I sell.

If you guys know anyone who's interested in picking up a 412A (red tolex), I'm asking $1000 firm, and I have pics available. It's in AMAZING condition - these things can take abuse, but I didn't have the heart o put it through its paces... except, of course, high SPLs. :)

Take care, gang! And rock on Mills!
