Hey everyone! New member, first post. I just blindly picked up a new Gibson GA-20 RVT at a seconds and overstock yard sale at the Epiphone property here in Nashville. I've been looking for a smaller amp for some time at a $100, it was well worth the chance, though I've never played through one of these amps. Now that I've got it home and am playing through it, I've got a question. Channel 1 is MUCH louder and brighter than channel two, and the volume and color difference is great enough that I'm wondering whether or not there is something wrong with the amp.

Does anyone out there have one of these things? If so, is this normal? I'm loving the tone and response of this amp so far, but I can't really find much documentation on it out there. Thanks!

Hey,
Welcome aboard. You've got to be a Jellyfish fan, no? (Amazing album at any rate...)
I don't have one, but I did find this: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/amp-central-station/80899-gibson-1964-ga-20-rvt-really-bad.html
I've been really interested in old Gibsons lately but don't know much about em yet. Some do sound killer.
Cheers,
Chris

I am a Jellyfish fan, sort of a 90's power pop junky. Anyway. Thanks for the direction here. My amp is actually the new one that Gibson started making in 06. I dig the old Gibson's too, but this is the time I've really spent much time with a Gibson amp.

I don't know anything about the GA20RVT amps that were out a couple of years ago but I had a GA20RVT Minuteman when I was starting out. I know they aren't thought highly of but I really liked mine.
The channels were quite different on mine(wish I still had it)
