Anything going on this week? I'm here on business but I'll be free Sunday through Tuesday nights. I'm at the Radisson in Pudong, but I can catch a cab to anything nearby.

I was just there a couple of weeks ago... you just missed a major holiday where they had fireworks over the river, etc. Normally I'd say to check out the bar at the Peace Hotel, but it was closed for some reason.

Anyway, restaurants at the Bund, the normal "touristy" walk up the pedestrian street, and possibly a walk down the music store street called Jing Ling Rd, I think. (be very careful if you buy... my host told me that most of the Epis, Gibsons, etc are fake. I have no idea if he knew that for sure.)

Check out the old city if you've never seen it. As an American, it still amazes me to walk through 800-year-old buildings...

Most of this is in Puxi on the other side of the river (take a cab, they're incredibly cheap compared to the US) but Pudong is pretty amazing in its own right. A huge chunk of it is a major metro city built over the last 15 - 20 years.
