Hey out there. Went to see the Eagles two weeks ago now in Greenbay(GO PACKERS!!!!) and was just a kick ass show. I got some great pics of the show from a friend of mine and thought I would share them with my fellow gear pager brethren. Later!!

Cool pix. Thanks for posting. That is one band I have always wanted to see but never got a chance. I'm there the next time they are anywhere around me (CT,RI,MA,NY).
I dig JW's Duesenberg.
Now I see S. Smith in the first photo. I had missed it earlier. He does a nice job as fill in but I miss Felder too.

Nice pics! I also miss Felder in that band. It sucks when bands of that magnitude feature artists who basically can't stand each other anymore. :(

Did you happen to catch what amps Joe was using? I saw them a few weeks ago in Dallas, but my seats were high up and the the side of the stage, so I couldn't tell. Anyways, they put on a dynamite show.
They have the Mafia vibe going on! Really strange to see them dressed like that.
Nice pictures !

I'm sure it was an impeccable performance.
Henley, Frey, and the hired help have it down to a science.

No I didn't get a chance. I was really trying to see what they had going. Thats one thing that I always like seeing with the Eagles is there choice of gear. Joe was playing a different guitar pretty much every tune. There was a bunch of EBMM's.

They do have good taste. There were a few times I think I spotted an AC30.

Same here, I don't want to ruin my memory of seeing them in the '70s with Don.
There was fire there back then, an inspired recklessness that Felder offered up in spades.
He pushed those guys on stage back then.
All of that's been replaced now by flawless execution.
As great as the quality of performance is now, I find it boring and tame.
Maybe it's middle age, I don't know.
The "Hell Freezes Over" DVD with Felder is even pretty tame and polished.
I'm sure it was an impeccable performance.
Henley, Frey, and the hired help have it down to a science.
I'm sure they put on great performances of their great song catalog.
But for me, it's an impeccable Eagles cover ban without Felder.
;)
Just my opinion, YMMV.
I'm still a fan of both Henley's & Walsh's solo work.
I'd see them solo anyday.
But zero desire to see the Eagles.
I am glad to see them recording new material.
Maybe that will be their salvation.

Time was you went to a rock concert to ESCAPE Wall Street and the man!
I will never wear a tie again to work let alone to perform!
Glad you had a good time.
Nice Pix and I am glad you had a good time!
I last saw them on the Long Run tour and really enjoyed seeing them. Joe Vitale was playing keys and percussion with them back then and seeing Walsh and Felder play together was unforgettable.
Unless something changes with their WalMart association I will never see them again nor buy / support any more new music from them.

I haven't read the book (those who have correct me if I'm wrong), but I heard Felder interviewed on Howard Stern....basically the Eagles formed a corporation, and Felder was the CFO. He claims he was never entitled to see any of the books showing the income the band made, and that he challenged Henley on it, and he/they disolved the corporation and kicked him out. I think that's the jist, but it undoubtably involved personality clashes...I don't think they all liked each other for a long time.

I guess if non-inspired, "impeccable", note for note replications of recordings is one's idea of a "great show", then go see the Eagles. The Felder-less Eagles, in fact.
Better yet, save the $200 and play the records. It's a much better experience.
Kills me to see Joe all trussed up like a Christmas turkey.....kinda makes me flashback to those miserable wedding band gigs that I did back when I needed a job and refused to go to work for the man!
...and I caught them on TV not long ago and felt the same sterility in their music that others have mentioned.....note for note perfection with no surprises.

Don was part of the original Eagles Corporation. He left the band when Henley and Frey decided to dissolve (actually just ignore) the original company (without Don's knowledge) and start a new one with only Henley and Frey as principles. Then they wanted to hire Don, Joe and Tim as employees. Joe and Tim went along because they were still very well compensated and they weren't part of the original corporation anyway but Felder felt he should be a partner as he co-wrote many of the tunes that made the Eagle famous and wrote Hotel California.
The book is worth a read. Henley and Frey have serious egos and issues. It might be interesting to see how a book from the others would read.

I've seen both Henley and Walsh solo concerts. Both are great. Stuart Smith is the Felder "replacement" hired gun. Felder certainly got a raw deal since he was the one who wrote all the music for Hotel California and never got credit. It would be like if George Harrison going against Lennon-McCartney or the late Brian Jones vs Jagger-Richards

My take on the suits:
They're saying: "We don't give a shit about the music or about creativity. We want you all to understand that as long as you're willing to watch us do nothing more than replicate our songs perfectly with little or no emotion and with NOTHING resembling taking a chance, we're just gonna continue going to the bank and cashing our checks. Because it's become such a business and not a thing more, we might as well dress the part".
To the OP. I'm glad you liked the show though.

Very well said, indeed.
It baffles me that people seem to eat it up, though. Pay out the ass to go to a show so they can mindlessly sing along to classic radio hits from decades ago. I guess they appreciate the band not throwing them any curve balls by playing the songs note for note so they really don't have to think while they sing along.

Speaking from experience, Steuart is excellent, but he is shoved off to the side. His main guitar was a '60s Strat that sounded fantastic, but he had a good rotation of EBMM's.
I would also like to thank the OP for posting the pix and say that I'm glad he enjoyed the show...Sorry for posting my negative opinion when it really wasn't the point of this thread. I hate being the "piss in yer cornflakes" type of poster!
The Eagles never make for a boring thread! Lots of opinions and controversy, to be sure!
...and on a positive note, Steuart plays those parts like he's had Felder's brain transplanted in his head!

You know your old when you remember bands like The Eagles being fresh and original - sort of outlaw. I can remember The Eagles having this laid back California desert vibe that was very appealing in the early 70s.

Dang you guys always make the mistake of not getting it with guys like this and the state of music in this day and age.
Now listen!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are musicians! Most of the public are NOT. They don't care much of who is in the band. They are coming to hear Desparado, Hotel California, Heartache tonight. They don't care that Joe is a master of the guitar nor even know who he is. And they certainly don't know or care that Felder is out of the band, much less why!
Take your tit out of the ringer!

I always found it interesting that Frey - Henley were often at odds and couldn't get along, at times, with each other but found a common bond to team up against Don Felder.
I've always liked Henley's vocals and song writing but I'll side with the golfer in the crowd and that's Felder. FORE!!!

Felder's biggest crime was that he wasn't a vocalist on any hits. Henley, Fry, and Walsh were all vocalists on hits. Felder may have written Hotel California, but on tour, he was dispensible.
Great photos - thanks! If you want to get a sense of what the Eagles were like in the early days, when singer/songwriters were emerging from Laurel Canyon, pick up and read a copy of "Hotel California" by Barney Hoskyns. It's every bit as interesting a book as DF's biography, which I enjoyed as well. The Eagles were corporate-minded from the onset. They've certainly succeeded according to their own terms - the CEOs, that is.

I saw the Eagles during the Hotel CA tour, again in
2001. Tremendous concerts! Walsh & Felder - two
guitar gods on stage together. Great songs and vocals,
of course.
Having read Heaven and Hell, now I wouldn't
go see them even if you paid for my ticket.
The new album is quite lame. No fire withour Felder.
It's just lost the edge that Felder gave.
It's mostly elevator music.
The gods dictate what Joe and Tim can wear, play and move. Why else would Joe wear a suit?? He never does
for his solo shows.
At least I have my memories.
Now they just leave me with a foul taste.
