Their House of Blues is pretty nice, and right downtown. Worth checking out their calender to see who's there during your stay.
The Beachland Ballroom gets some cool acts too.

If you can change your travel plans and go to see the Experience Music Project in Seattle instead.
IMHO the RnRHOF is lame and depressing considering the subject matter and the amazing collection.
The EXP is everything the RnRHOF should be.

Too late to change, I will keep it in mind for next time though, always wanted to see Seattle.
When I saw the rock n roll hall of fame in cleveland, the stuff that interested me the most were the handwritten lyrics to Purple Haze and other tunes - the songwriting process is fascinating. also, i loved the one-hit-wonders exhibit! and don't they have a part of Sun Studios' recording booth in there or something? some great stuff.
Tower City is your Uber-mall in Cleveland, and The Flats is your nightlife, google em up!

I didn't care too much for the Hall of Fame when I went. It's not that it sucks so much as it just doesn't feel like it is what it should be. It's been about 3 or 4 years since I went though, so things may have changed. The collection of old guitars you find scattered about is pretty cool.

I looked at Leadbelly's 12 string for about 45 minutes and Fogerty's Les Paul Custom for 15 .That was about it .That was 12 years ago though ,I dont know what they have now

Ive been to the RRHF in Cincinatti a few times...All I would recomend is watch where you walk at night, that neighborhood can be a little dangerous. My wife and I almost got jacked last time we were there, followed into a parking lot and they tried to trick us into a ride...by the time they realized we didnt have a car in there and were walking to a restaurant we were too close to the street to do anything and they split.
First time we were there a steet person walked up to us outside our hotel with their hand in their coat like they had a gun, started to say something to us when a group exited the hotel, scaring off the would be mugger, we went back in and called cops/cab...apparently this guy was bugging a lot of people and finally cops took him.

Yeah, I've heard Columbus is even worse than that. I have family up in Cleveland, and usually go up to visit about once a year. They all mostly live in the pretty decent parts of the city, but some of the places are just wild (you have to consider, I live in rural WV, and even the drug addicts here are usually too lazy to pull anything lol). I'm sure all bigger cities have the same bad parts/good parts of town, though.
