A couple years ago, ALL my guitars and amps were worth more than my car...a '88 Camry. Then it started to die and I had to get a newer car...now, it's worth more than all my guitars and amps combined :(.

All my musical gear added up together is worth much less than my car cost when we bought it. However, given depreciation, someday my gear will inevitably be worth more.

Nearly all Historics are.

I think both my guitars individually are worth more than my car, and definitely combined.

My Egnater M4 + TC 2290 + VHT 2150 are probably worth more than my car.

Yes. My car is worth peanuts though (maybe $3000) and I have yet to see a reason to spend more than that on a car for me.
I think my most expensive guitar ( a Poole LP) is maybe worth twice that..

A few years ago, my car was an even older Holden - 1982, VH. Bought it for $3200 in '98 (first car I actually owned after having company cars). Got $1500 for it when it was written off. My Grubisa Merlin was bought for much more when I still had the VH. My '64 Vibrolux Reverb amp was/is worth much more than the car as well.

My Dad rags on me for spending money on gear - I remind him how much my guitars have appreciated in value while his (relatively) fancy car, which he was too afraid too drive, depreciated.

One of my violins is exactly equal in value to what my home would appraise for in todays market.

I drive modest vehciles, so all of my gear would be worth more than my Suv and car.

I keep my cars for a long time, until they've pretty much had it, I'm in my fifties and I've only had five cars in my life. I like to them paid off and then have a long period of no payments.
So while my car is still worth well more than any guitar I own, eventually it won't be.

I've got a 94 Audi with 140k on it that is worth AT LEAST 500 bucks so yes.

I have 3 guitars and 2 amps that are each worth more.

However. add them all up and they aren't nearly worth my wife's car.

But that argument gets me nowhere when thinking about adding to the gear collection.

'85 Mazda 626 with 191,384 miles. Paid $300.00 last year for it.

Like many other respondents, I have old cars with a lot of mileage and low bluebook values. OTOH I have a couple guitars that aren't that special, but I bought long enough ago that they've probably edged past my 15 year old cars in value.
