I took my 6 year old son Jared to his very first race this past sunday. He was grinning from ear to ear all day long.

That was about the age I went to my first race too....but it was a dirt track around Greenville, SC. The thought however is still with me today.

Good on you!!

By about a third of the way through the race I was certain we were both going to be overcome by racing fuel fumes.:D

Took my oldest to an F1 race several years back. They had a bunch of older F1 cars on qualifying day, we got to walk around Gilles Villeneuve's old Ferrari 312T4. It was a real blast and he loved it!

I used to take him to air shows as well. He always got a real kick out of seeing and hearing those jets whizz by at the speed of sound. Got a picture of him sitting in a cockpit, the smile and expression of wonder on his face is just too precious.

I'm going to have a chance to relive it all with the new little one 5 years from now. Hahaha.

Racing is something that we're pretty out of touch here in the Pacific Northwest. I'd love to go to one some day.

That last photo is classic! Careful....I could easily see it making it's way around the web with a life of its own. Definitely frame-able! Glad you had fun.

My first race was NASCAR with my dad, when I was 30 years old.

Something came up, and instead of my mom going with him, I went.

Was a wonderful day. One of the few times I've seen my dad really enjoy something.

That's great!

Took my son to his first race for the fall race in Fontana for his 11th birthday. It was an awesome trip!

First things I noticed was the HUGE smile on his little face and the sunburn!

Guaranteed he will talk about that for many years to come! Glad you two had fun.

Way to go dad :AOK. Nothing like spending quality time with your kids. My son's 2 1/2 years old, and we have so much fun together. When we have had a great day together, he will come to me in the evening, say "I love you dad" and then gives me a good hug and a kiss on my cheek. Then he proceeds happily to bed. Makes me feel like the best dad in the world :)
