Like John Mayer, and a few other notable players, like his mentor Frank Zappa ,Steve Vai has a pretty healthy sense of humour, and can even poke fun at himself. Oh,,theres a pedal in there too. Play the video.

But he can't take others poking fun at him.

That was pretty funny. He seems like a really cool guy as well as a killer player.

Gives new meaning to the term, "Playing with yourself."

I don't really know that much about him though of course I know who he is, but his piece on the first Crossroads festival DVD certainly shows a great sense of humor--I found it very enjoyable though stylistically it's miles away from what I usually listen to.

I've seen Steve play but never seen him sit there being his normal self and talking. The really weird thing was that a lot of his mannerisms, like looking down and then looking at you from under his eyebrows, are eerily reminiscent of Robben Ford. Watch any of RF's videos and you see that same kind of self effacing "hey, isn't this cool" kind of thing.
Of any of the guys that play like that, he has always struck me a really musical. Good to see he has fun with it.
