I'm really impressed by this cool little amp and can see it as being a great studio tool.
Here are a couple of low volume tones. I was keeping the master volume down for my neighbor's sake. I had the tube mix knob near the center, (both 6V6's and el-84's together,) and the watts knob up to 3:00 for both tones. I can't wait to experiment with the Rebel opened up through an open-back cab and also a 4x12 to see how those combinations sound.

I'm playing my tele direct into the Rebel and through a Vintage 30 loaded Bogner cube.

Sounds good to me, but most of your clips do. I was amazed that these amps are as cheap as they are.

Here's another short Rebel vid, this time with a Lentz, Croyden.

I have two of these bad boys now.
They sound great right out of the box, but man, put some old glass in there and they are heaven.
The power tube difference is subtle, but the preamp tube difference is huge. They come stock with Sovtek (GT re-branded) 12AX7WA's and these are very rough, harsh sounding tubes to my ears.
The fact that the stock Rebels sound so good with the Sov 12AX7WA's is real testimony to how good the underlying amp is, IMHO.

Thanks for the reminder. I've been meaning to do some experiments with tube swapping in mine.

I played one of these the other day at GC and I was impressed with the whole package-the ability to blend the power tubes, the variable wattage, etc. I would like to hear it with a different speaker though, I dont think the celestion 80 does it justice.
With that said, the reason it is so cheap is the parts they use. The transformers, for example, are made in Taiwan. I don't know where the amp is assembled, but I can bet it is overseas somewhere.

Made in China, but at that price point who's going to care?
This is a power scaled amp with great features for the price of some boutique pedals! Kudos to Bruce for building something that will sell like hot cakes even in a grid-locked economy.

Mickey,
Is this amp truly power scaled? I din't think it was. Even with the watt control at the lowest possible level it is still pretty damn loud...master seems to have more of an effect on volume than watts control. Maybe it is power scaled, but can only knock teh voltage down a bit....not as much as other power scaled amps.

So is this actually a power-scaled amp?
Can anyone answer this?

great sounding overdrive on that little guy!
Are there 2 channels on this or do you have to tweak knobs to get dirt?

Man that sounds great with the Tele...harmonically rich.
The V30 speaker sounds good too.
Love to hear it thru a 2x12 greenback cab. :)

Right. Because reducing the power output is not linear to reducing the volume. Reducing the power will change the point at which the amplifier starts to distort. So you don't have to turn the volume to 10 to get the same amount of distortion. The master volume controls the output level, not the power output. So it will have more of an effect on volume because that's what it does. :)
