Should be somewhere in CO.
Isn't that where TGP originated?

That's it, get a group that can't behave when they're infinitely separated by space together in a place where they can physically exchange barbs on the "tone is in the Fingers" or "best/worst of the Universe" discussion in person.

Have it in St Louis , it's about as close to the middle of the country as you could get . We could have a " Ring of Settlement" and have the Ceriatone Battle Royale in there WWF style !

My vote would be for Vegas. Plenty of "evening entertainment".

The old PRS Forum events proved beyond a shadow of a doubt the old adage that people will act completely different - and much better - in person than they do on the internet.
This being said, unless the event was driving distance from me, I probably wouldn't participate (just don't have the connection to TGP today that I had to the PRS Forum then).

For one of the PRS Forum events, someone made really cool mock "backstage passes" with our names. I still have mine!

Good call Joseph and I recommend a friendly "best ball" golf tournament to round out the schedule.

if you hold the gettogether in monterey
then the best ball golf tournament could be held at
the pacific grove public golf course
where the views are spectacular
and the greens fees are cheap

Great idea! I'll book the opening entertainment. John Mayer, Eddie Van Halen. I'll be sure to check & see if they'll do a clinic on internet board etiquette...:AOK:tapedshut:dunno:rotflmao;):D

Make sure you get Dave Chappelle as well. Him and Mayer can tag team about the Hawaiian shirts and sandals blues crowd (of which I am drifting slowly toward!)...

I confess it had faded from mine but that says more about the quality of my memory than that of your idea. :o

No, but the member base here is MUCH more diverse; it's best centered around something like NAMM (there is already an un-official TGP Breakfast every year).
In the PRS Forum days, it was a tremendous draw to have access to and a lot of effort from PRS to pull it off. With TGP, which is a MUCH bigger site, there is no singular siren-call of a corporate tie-in, nor the sort of (near) cultish draw of an up and coming (at the time) company.

I don't know if I would want to fly out to the west coast or something crazy, but if it was somewhere within driving distance, it would be a cool thing.

NO. The last thing we need here in the Lou is a bunch of misanthropic guitar weenies invading the relative peace and anonymity of the Gateway City. How about Peoria, IL?:p

In Nashville. Centrally located, LOTS of Guitar stuff.
Tour the Gibson factory?

Not sure something like this would succeed. If TGP members were all enthuiastic about the same 1-2 guitar, amp, pedals, etc. builders, then maybe this will work. But with the diversity, you'd need to have a whole bunch of stuff for people to look at.
The gear would really be the draw. And maybe jamming opportunities. And maybe clinics/lessons.
It would be cool if there would be booths that showcased the gear of different members -- the stuff that many would really love to try out. Something like booths for Matte, CDaughtry, the guy in Canada with all the Vs, Pete Faragher, etc. Of course, I doubt that these guys would be willing to let hundreds/thousands of strangers touch their stuff.

For the finale we could split teh relic lovers and relic haters into teams for a game of red rover?
Or they just could just throw tomatoes or sumpin :munch

Here in the D.C. area, we're already in the midst of planning a Regional get-together. Past local ones have drawn extremely well. That, in my estimation, is the more realistic option.

I think we should have it at Lerner's house.
P.
I like the regional TGP idea too.
NYC/Chicago/Nashville/Dallas/Vegas/L.A.
Something like that. Meet up at a Hotel close to some cool boutique store(s).
NYC would already have a precedent with our own Frankenstrat2 organizing. Chicago too (Makenmusic with ToneFest '06).
Might work...
