My backyard borders protected wetlands and my home office has a great unobscured view of it all. Lots of cool wildlife daily. Took these a few minutes ago without even getting out of my chair... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y280/DAT12/Nature/2049ec83.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y280/DAT12/Nature/db8e0406.jpg

I can see three smoke stacks belching grey crud into the air, 500 or so Boilermakers and Pipfitters mulling about, a few porta-potties, two 500 ton cranes, and three geese drinking out of a sediment pond. It just beautiful , man.................

I call my office the "Death Star Throne Room." I am on the 34th floor of a 34 floor building. My office projects off of the side of the building and I have glass from floor to ceiling. Triangular girders and reinforcements border the glass. It is bad ass. From my office I can from Downtown New Orleans out to about 40+ miles West. I can see the river and ships on the river and I can see some of the lake. It is a cool view.

Beautiful.

Lots of deer around here. I see them in my yard often, almost always on my mountain bike ride. A few weeks back on a ride, I came around a bend onto the edge of a big field and a mother was standing about 15 feet from me, suckling her calf. I stopped and watched them for a minute or two. She didn't run, but started inching away after a couple of minutes.

Sad story: a couple of weeks ago, while I was travelling in Asia, my wife informed me that we had a dead deer in the yard next to the house. The dogs had discovered it (they didn't make contact but they were whining at it through the fence). We figure it got hit by a car and made it up against the house before it passed. She had to hire someone to come haul it away. The town won't do anything about it unless it's in the street. If I was home I probably would have dragged it out there, but I wasn't going to ask her to do that.

The guy who came to get it said that sometimes, after they get hit, they become really crazed, break through people's doors, and smash up their houses.

My day gig office is in the middle of the building below and I cannot see out any of the windows without a short walk. But boy do I feel safe.

I have a view of over-protected wetlands. It is a courtyard about 30'x15' with a little grass, a couple of small trees and a koi pond.

I am with you guys. I envy Mr Graphic though. I would give anything to work from home, especially with that view!

By the way, what do you do Mr Graphic? I assume something with graphics, but just curious.

That sounds awesome! Have any pictures?

I have a really cool tree just outside my office. The leaves are currently a perfect blend of green and yellow; just a shock of bright color. I'm considering turning my desk around so I can look at it all day!

PS - it looks a lot like other pics I've posted here before but this one is, in fact, from this morning.

Hmmm. Not sure of what you're referring to. I'm not aware of any snipers on buildings...

Anyway my office isn't in Alexandria, it's in Calverton, MD.

Actually the "Graphic" reference was due to my being partial to guitars with graphic paint jobs back in the day. I spent the last 3 years writing a book on vintage Danelectro instruments now I'm working on a few other related book/internet projects. I am with you guys. I envy Mr Graphic though. I would give anything to work from home, especially with that view!

Me too! Only...I actually lived there. Yeah, take Cline Ave northward, up around Inland Steel, and enjoy the sights. It almost looks like post apocolytic, Termintator II stuff! Disgusting, for sure!

"Has the deer a little doe? Yeah, two bucks, nyuck, nyuck, nyuck."
Smack! Oh, a wiseguy, eh?
