is kava kava legal in the states, and if so,is it any good?

Yes, it's legal. Too much will destroy your liver.

I found it to be unpleasant. It kind of made me sick to my stomach and jittery. Granted, it tastes like crap, so that may have had something to do with it.

If you ever watched survivor vanuatu (sp?) and saw the episode where there were at an island ceremony and drank kava, one of the players had a bad reaction. That is just how I felt.

It tastes absolutely terrible. I had to fight just to get an 8oz. glass down the hatch. Effects feel like a mild euphoria, a little spacey. However, I'm not sure that the taste is worth the effects and as silverface63 mentioned, information coming out indicates this does some pretty good damage to the liver given the quantity you need to ingest to enduce the effects.

Have a few pints instead.

Wow, you just flashed me back 10 years to a time I was in Fiji. Has some kava kava and agree with what those above said. Tastes terrible, makes you a little spacey, along with tingles like too much caffeine.

I'll take a cocktail or something else, please.

A friend of mine and I ate a ton of kava kava in capsule form when we were in high school. We each ate about 37 capsules and felt very mild effects. It's lame.

Yeah...10 years ago this was something to try...Most reputable shops don't carry it anymore because of side effects (liver damage)...not worth the money imo.
