Here’s a dual rig preset I wrote for EJ type sounds. This is direct out of the axe FX Ultra to PT. The preset toggles (and morphs) between an A clean and B woolly mammoth with Exp 1. I don’t have the right kind of guitar to really try to nail the tone more, but this might be getting in the ballpark.

That is killer!

John, Are you using your Ernie Ball Steve Morse guitar in that clip?

Thanks for checking out this first attempt guys.

Hi gearitis, yeah, but the pickups aren't stock. This clip has an Area 61 on the clean and then I popped it to the bridge humbucker which is now an Anniversary PAF.

Jeez. Yeah, I don't think the guitar was too much of an obstacle for you in nailing the tone. VERY nice.

Wow! Very close for a first try at those tones.

The clean tone is especially nice. And it seems like it has some nice sensitive picking dynamics going for it.

That has renewed my interest in this modeling gear. Thanks. Keep the EJ tone clips coming!

By the way, were you playing through a power amp & cab, direct, or what?

I should have stated in the OP that this is all direct in the Axe FX to PT.

Actually, you did say that, and I missed it. But that makes me wonder, is the tone similar if you go through a power amp and cab, as you might when playing live?

Damn, that sounds so bad ass! I know if I got one of these, I would never want to play an old school amp again. These sound so good...but they would make me SO LAZY! LOL.

Ha! I have the opposite concern...I did the rack gear thing for many years and now have gotten used to the instant tweakability of pedals. Rack units are more work for me. But the damn thing just sounds so good...I am sorely tempted.

By lazy, I mean in my playing. With all of these nice effects built in it would so easy to build up a nice juicy overdriven tone with delay and reverb to hide behind. I have done that for years and I am most at home with tones like that....I have been trying to break free of that. Not a put down on the unit, because it sounds killer and I am sure you could just as easily play it dry and tight...but I wouldn't!:roll

Thanks for checking this out guys. I enjoyed the way the PAF hit this fuzz more than my Area 61 in the bridge. Not toally EJ, I know, but what keeps me in my comfort zone/happy place. :)

I'd like to change the pickups in my Steve Morse. Need to find someone who can make me a set in purple.....

Great clip. The cleans were particularly amazing ....
