Hey- I've owned a Blues Jr for a few months now & replaced the tubes with JJ el84's & Tung Sol 12AX7's. Everything's been great until yesterday when I turned the amp on start playing it starts to sputter when I hit certain notes. When it gets warmed up the sputter stops & all is good. Today, I tapped one of the power tubes with a pencil & there was a pop when I tapped it, but when I continued to play everything seemed fine. Does this sound like a bad power tube or a sign of something more serious lingering. Like I said the amp & tubes are only a couple of months old.
Please help!!:dunno

Sound like it may be a dirty tube socket. Get out the Deoxit and check it out.

I have the same problem. I've had the amp for about 7 years now...great little amp. I have the "woody jr" model. wouldn't trade it for anything. Probably just dirty.

Thanks for the response- I don't own the "woody" but I"ve heard there great! I just dropped a Celestion G12H30 in mine & its a perfect fit for my homemade "Strelecaster" (strat body, tele neck with a single coil a the neck & a humbucker at the bridge).
Just a wah pedal in the chain & the amps reverb & she sings!!
