Glad to see that the series ended with no further controversy and was a "clean" win for Philly although I just lost an AL vs. NL dinner wager to a Met fan at work. :(

Anyways, congrats to the Philly fans.

I was thinking of Tug McGraw and Pete Rose drinking champagne on the mound after their last series win...probably not happening tonight (at least on the mound)...

Congrats Phillies...

Go Braves!!! (next year)!!

The Rays have nothing to be ashamed of either, class acts and a super group of talented, young players.

Thank you both Philly and Tampa for a World Series that had absolutely nothing to do with the Yankees, A-Rod, or steroids!

Just some good ol' fashioned baseball.

Seriously, no major superstars. Just two really good teams.

Now, that's a fantastic attitude to have. Thank you for that. You guys were great opponents...gave us a run for our money.

Good luck for next year and maybe we'll see you back in the Series! :AOK

I'm really happy for Moyer. But game five was a complete fiasco.

I already made a big congrats post over on the Phillies thread, but I'll post one here, too.

Congrats to the Phillies and their fans for the World Series win.
No excuses here, you deserve it.

Cheers to all of you, and enjoy the victory.

And yeah, another WS matchup next year would be cool!
This Tampa/Philadelphia rivalry would be great with the Phils
spring training/minor league presence here in the area.

Congrats Philly. I think the Rays/Phillies face eachother in interleague play next year. Maybe I'll see some of you guys in Tampa?

We love and support our home teams here in Philadelphia with all our heart and we push our teams to play their hearts out for US.

We cheer when they win:banana and pout  when they lose so it should be easy to see we have a personal connection to our teams.

I feel sorry you don't understand, but feel even worse you don't have the same connection with your teams. The least you can do is let us have our fun. :nono

I'll give em props - they just outplayed the Rays, but both teams showed up and played a great series. I'm not even that big a baseball fan, this is the first series I've probably watched in years and I was entertained.

Congrats, Phillies!

I'd have to say that the rain delay in game five wasn't worse than 1989's game three. Nobody died from the rain.

As dissapointed as I am for my home team, I am equally as happy for the Phils fans! Even though it was short and a little wierd, it was good ball and you guys are definitely the 2008 WS champs! BIG CONGRATS!! :D

For three innings with three runs scored it took quite long even considering the pitching changes. Seemed even more ads then usual between half innings. I would have thought it would be the ads originally payed for in game 5 but it appeared to me to be an awful lot, especially between the 8th and 9th.

Congrats to Phillies phans!

Congrats to the Phillies for their win, it's been a long drought and the organization has very little to show for the 125 years in existence so it's cool they brought home the hardware. It is too bad that there was more talk about the umpiring and the weather than about the two teams that busted their humps to get to the big dance.

My favorite Phils player now is the Flyin' Hawaiian. rock.

I almost walked down to Broad Street to celebrate but thought better of it and just watched the "celebration" on TV. Once I saw the police trying to put out the bonfires burning in the middle of Broad Street, windows smashed at bus stop shelters, and the luggage store at Broad and Walnut being looted I knew I'd made the right decision.

The team was great, but the "fans" here are another story.

Congrats to Phillies fans! Well played considering Rollins didn't really show up like I expected him to, and Howard saved his fireworks for the end.

The umpiring was pretty lame with missed calls and bush league strike zones, but I disagree about Bud. Easy to pile on, but considering there isn't a weatherman in this country who gets it right (okay maybe in Phoenix), I thought he did the right thing, and handled it as well as could be. The suspended game thing is one of the lovable aspects of baseball for me. No one will ever forget the year the Phillies won due to game 5 parts 1 & 2. Wouldn't be an issue if the season didn't go so frackin' long.

Hot Stove already burning. My Royals picked up a young slugging first baseman from the Marlins.
