It's a Dewar's 12 ancestor blended scotch whiskey. & it's got some whiteish particles floatin' in it.

Distilled spirits do not age after they have been removed from the barrel and bottled. As long as it hasn't been stored in sunlight, it should taste like it would have the day it came out of the barrel.

Not a super premium. I'd probably strain the particles at least.

Thanks guys! I opened it up & it's pretty good. Not as smooth as most single malts I've had, but not bad at all.

A friend found an old decanter of some premium jack daniels stuff from about 25 years ago.( factory decanter still sealed ) and it was just as good as new ! ( it's true it doesn't age in the bottle , but i swear the angel's share does seem to mellow the flavor out , or maybe it's all in the mind!)
I would filter any little sediement though. Smell it , if it smells fine it probably is !

Preferably after you walk through the moss on your roof in the spring time. As much as I love whiskey I hate whisky.

If it's Glenlivet or Glennfidditch, yes. If not, pour it out.

I went to a bar in Houston that had a 1971 Macallan single malt - $100 a shot!
It was my birthday and my buddy put it on his company credit card...

best thing I ever put in my mouth.

I'd rather have the Dewars.

I worked in a bar for a while and we sold drinks that were upwards of $500 (different cognacs and such). One fellas buys a snifter of $500 stuff for himself and then a sambuca for his wife. I watched him take it back to his table, get distracted, pick up the Sambuca and instead of handing it to his wife, pouring it in his snifter of cognac before I could get over there to stop him. The look on his face one he tasted and then realized what he did was absolutely priceless.

I had a bottle of Jameson my neighbor found when he was cleaning up his basement. It was an unopened pre-US Surgeon warning label bottle.

I made that thing last for about 7 years. Only had a shot on very special occasions. Finished it this summer.

Oh, I prefer single malt - just not those two ladies' whiskies.

Funny how coincidental this thread is...

Long story short, I just sort of inherited a bottle of
Adelphi Distillery - BRUICHLADDICH 1970
30 Year Old ISLAY - 49.4% Vol.
1 of 237 bottles from Cask N° 5076
Bottled in 2000

I'm not used to these sort of high end whiskeys...I'm normally a Chivas 12/18 year, Macallen, Black Label sort... So I honestly don't even know what I have. But I'm keeping it for a special occasion! I just emailed Adelphi, and they gave me some background info, but I'm still getting my head around it.
