It's that time of year and I hate it. What do you keep your thermostat set at?
I keep mine at 67 and I'm cold. I also hate wearing sweatshirts in the house. But I guess I better get use to it.

60/62 for me and I'm used to sweatshirts. Also since my house has alot of windows I get a benefit of "solar heat" and the furnace won't kick on until after dark on sunny days.

60/62 wow now that is something to shoot for. I think it would take training. My dog would even revolt.

68°F while awake, 55°-62°F while sleeping, or off depending on how cold it is. Right now, it's off at night. Soon, it will not be off anymore until spring.

I've always liked a cool house. On some of those "solar" days it gets so warm in my great room sometimes I'll have to slightly open a window.
I just turned the furnace on for the 1st time last week..heck it's going to be near 60 over the weekend so I'll be able to turn it off for awhile again.

61 degrees. The dog doesn't mind, she sometimes even wears a little sweatshirt. My girlfriend would be cold even if the house was 85 degrees, so she just wears a hoodie and sits under a blanket.

You guys have too much money, I heat with wood. Have a big woodstove in basement, and Pioneer Maid cookstove upstairs; keeps this 2400 sq ft cabin at 75 degrees even when its minus 65. It's minus 10 now, have a window cracked upstairs.

When fuel oil was around a buck, I ran my hot water boiler, but that changed as I went thru 2000 gal a year. I cut all my wood out the back door and get some needed exercise too.

I really like coming in from off the snowmachine and drying off nx to the hot woodstove; dogs like it too. Don't think I could take 65 degrees inside.

My wife would kill me in my sleep. She gets cold below 75.

We keep it at 68 during the day and 70 during wake and evening time. And I still catch her at the thermostat.

We've got a programmable thermostat, it's set at 67 when we are here and awake, and at 57 when we are gone or asleep.

Usually between 18 and 21 when it's close to 0 outside.

66 during the day, 62 at night.

It would have to be about 30 degrees colder than that do get the dog to sleep inside.

Buy her a lot of very nice sweaters and slippers. Way cheaper than keeping the thermostat up.

71-72 all the time...sometimes 73 if it's really cold outside (20 or below).

At it's worst, our heating bills are 130/month, so it's a small price to pay to be warm. Plus, I don't like to sleep with socks or pants on.

Now THERE'S a pretty picture on a Thursday morning.

She has them. This is the same person that wants it set to 70 in the summer go figure. I keep reminding her about that and I get dirty looks.

My wife has had a broken internal thermostat for many years. In the summer, we hang out on our 3 seasons porch a lot at night. By them time the sun goes down, and I'm finally relieved from the heat, she gets a blanket out and wants to start closing windows. When it gets cold out, she will turn on the gas fireplace out there, and burn off all of the oxygen in the room. THen at bedtime, she start tossing the covers off after about 5 minutes, and opens a window when it's 30° outside! It's like whatever most other folks would be comfortable with, she wants the exact opposite.

Oh, and I NEVER NEVER buy any clothing for her at all. I learned that one the first year I knew her. She doesn't hurt for clothes, unless I buy them for her. :D

My wife could not survive outside of the south, period. She thinks it's cold here right now when the temp is in the 70's during the day. I like it cool in the house but she will not tolerate it below 68 degrees, period. This time of year is tough because the temperature varies so much during the day/night. It gets hot in the house during the day without a little AC and at night she makes sure the heat kicks in if it drops below 68 or so. I turn on the AC and she goes nuts and she turns on the heat and I go nuts. I could live without any heat in the house until late November because the temp inside would still be in the 60's but she would leave me. My guitars also hate the cold so I guess I'll have to live in shorts and t-shirts year round.

Sleeping in the nude is the best way to keep warm. Really.

I keep our thermostat programmed to 70 when we are home and awake, 65 when we sleep and 60 during the day when we are at work. My wife usually bumps it up to 72.

She sounds like me! Hubby makes fun of me all the time because I'm always bundled up in a blanket. And if my feet get cold.....look out!

It's the opposite here. I can't get my wife to run the AC in the summer or turn up the heat in the winter. So, I've learned to adapt.

another tip;

buy a couple of cheap thermometers and leave them in different rooms of the house to see what the temp is in each room. Just because your thermostat is set to "68" doesn't mean that's the actual temp in any particular room.

I lit the pilot on the furnace two weeks ago, and turned the thermostat up for the first time last week.

If it were just me, I'd leave the thermostat all the way to the left (which is 60; darned thing won't go no lower) all winter. It's not just me, but my wife is mellowing a bit... I think I may be able to get away with 64 as long as we don't have company.
