For weekend cocktails with the missus it's either bourbon and ginger or vodka, pineapple juice, and seltzer.

I don't like beer.

I don't like Scotch. I realize it's very popular but there is something about the smell - more than the taste - that I just can't handle.

I have always come back to Canadian Club. Diet pepsi, lots of ice. I can get this pretty much anywhere in the world. Even had it at the Underground Motel in the outback of Australia.

I like very specific drinks - and if they're not available, I won't have anything. Love Kahlua, Grand Marnier, Stella Artois, Cosmos........ very dry white wine like Sauvignon Blanc and Champagne as long as it's not French.

Best - Beer, any beer really, but good beer in particular.

Worst - Captain Morgan Rum - bad experience on a spring break trip. I still have the photos of the incident to remind me.

I'm the same for favorite. I love the fruit of the vine. :)

Least favorite is tequila due to an unfortunate incident about 35 years ago. I still can't walk by a cactus without feeling nauseated.

Fave: vodka with anything. Rose's Lime, cranberry, orange, Red Bull, whatever. The ultimate versatile drink.

Least: any sort of gin. You know when you're spraying bug spray on your skin and some of it gets in your mouth, how that tastes? That's how gin tastes to me.

Faves: Tanqueray & Tonic, Dry Beefeaters Martini (extra dirty), Margarita
Don't like Tangueray in a martini, but it is superior in a G&T.
Least Fave: Probably scotch, anisette

Seems funny to me how polarized many are between gin and vodka. To me they seem different, yet fairly closely related.

My most recent ex girlfriend ( and long time friend) was a bartender for 15 years , and we are both Gin people. Yet both despise Vodka. It seems like people pick their neutral spirit and just can't fathom drinking the other one.
I think Vodka tastes like rubbing alcohol and gin is yummy goodness!
( yet i will drink vodka in things that totally mask the flavor of it , like Caucasians)

Faves: Whiskey (Bourbon, Irish, Scotch) and beer.

Least: Anything with rum, anything with coke, anything very sweet. Champagne tastes good but gives me bad hangovers. Speaking of bad hangovers, I'd stay away from draft beer from dirty lines if only there was a good way of identifying it before I drank it.

It seems like people pick their neutral spirit and just can't fathom drinking the other one.Interesting observation and I think this is true.

I like vodka but really don't like gin.

Of course I mask the vodka taste with OJ or Cranberry so if you're talking about drinking it straight, neither one really.

I would be an exception. I like G&Ts in the summer and generally order martinis w/ gin. However I have no objections to vodka and have no problems w/ vodka cocktails (e.g., gimlets, w/fruit juice). If it's decent vodka I don't mind drinking it straight. The wife is partial to vodkas w/ flavors added (e.g., vanilla, raspberry...) which I can't stand.

I tend to think of vodka as being fairly neutral and gin as being very gin tasting.

No such thing. :pTechnically true, thanks to the vintners of France.

But we all know there are "sparkling white wines" that are in fact "champagnes".

I like Australian champers, and I'm happy to see I can buy it here in the U.S. -- doesn't exist in Canada.

I no longer drink, but I'll chime in anyway....

Favorite Drink: Captain Morgan & Coke. Tastes awesome, quite smooth, and puts me right where I want to be with no hangovers, sickness, or anything. Most of the time, I only drank that all night and nothing else.

Favorite Shots: Sambuca. Besides being Italian, which means I'm pretty much obligated to do it on certain occassions like weddings, holidays, birthdays, etc, I really like the black liquorish taste. Very smooth going down and gives me one helluva nice buzz, but never gets me sick...ever.

Favorite Beer: I'm not much of a beer drinker at all because it never quite settles right with me. When I do drink it, I like a good Amstel Light, Miller Lite, Corona, or Heineken...any of those and I'm good to go. I make it a point to stay away from dark and rich beers because they make me sick.

--------------------

Least Favorite Drink: Long Island Iced Tea. I know the way they make them can vary greatly, but in some of the places I've had them, they're like jet fuel. I can't get that stuff to go down and I could literally spend 2 hours on the same damn drink.

Least Favorite Shot: Vodka. As soon as it hits my stomach, I feel like puking. I don't know why, but it's toxic to me. Besides that, it's very harsh and nasty tasting.

Least Favorite Beer: Budweiser. That crap is like 'hangover in a can'. Always gives me one, always tears my stomach up, and makes me feel like garbage. I avoid it at all costs.

Best ....Patrone BFF

Worst.....Miller beer or any beer in a clear bottle, although just the smell of Southern comfort will take me back to that balmy summer night and all the vomiting

Honorable mentions Retsina wine, made from Pine pitch basically a marginally drinkable form of turpentine.

Grappa....... wife banned this from our house

Another Kahlua man here. + Stone, Sam Smith, & Belgian beers, Bombay Sapphire. I'm also a proponent of Don Julio Tequila.

Worst: Jose Cuervo. Brandy drinks don't agree with me anymore either. I'd rather drink Night Train.

I've known a few people who did it, including my wife. There are probably recipes all over the net. I know a simple one is basically adding instant coffee to vodka and letting is sit a long time.

That's a sombrero. Gotta have vodka to make it a white Russian. Unless that homemade Kahlua is made with vodka.

Best white Russian I ever had was made with unpasteurized cream from a friend's Jersey cow.
