14 billion = $14,000,000,000.00

well it sounds like a lot of money
that is because we think small
and
they will need much more than that

I'm just a lowly contractor doing an engineering project for them. They are keeping me and a bunch of other engineers employed, so no static from me. Besides, you can bitch all you want. You think it will change anything? LOL. Those guys are the biggest pigs in existance. Worse than the Pharma boys. And they ALL think they are WORTH IT.

My only gripe is that a great deal of that profit is the result of enormous write-offs for "research and development".

Years & years & years & years of "research and development".

Have they developed anything new?

Well, until we get their side of the story, this profit bashing thread needs to calm down.

Never mind Eddie's lawyers, the expression chilling power of the oil industry's legal team and the thought of an imaginary law suit should be enough to encourage only positive threads and posts.

Carry on.

Who's gonna defend an oil company???

That's like defending _____

Oi......

People need to relax

That said,
Without the oil companies, my car would be sitting in the driveway, not moving...ever

My point is that if you drive, you need them, you support them. If you start bitching about it, look at yourself as you are part of the problem [if you can call it that], and that problem goes much deeper than simply oil/companies. It is the way of life you signed up for.

So these evil companies are not researching ANYTHING else?? Go do a simpleton search around the net and take a look at what technologies these companies are working on.

Just wait until the election's over or our economy starts to improve. Gas prices will head upwards just as fast as they've come down. History repeats itself.......unfortunately.

14,000,000,000 billion? So that's really 14,000,000,000,000,000,000? ;)

They're an organization that's profitable. Which means they know how to grow and/or manage expenses really well. Kudos to them. What's wrong with that?

So if a mom and pop shop made the same profit numbers... should we bash them as well?

I thought exxon directly controlled gas prices. Why would they let them fall to near $2.00.

And to think that Exxon is one of the smallest fish in this oil game....
