View Full Version : Can a 5v4 be used in place of a 5y3?

In my 5e3? I was told that it can be swapped and it would tighten up the bass. Can anyone explain this? thanks

Yes it can.It will tighten up the sound a bit on amps like a Tweed Deluxe.It adds a bit more voltage,but is not as much as a GZ34/5AR4.
They work great is small amps to get a little bit extra.

I put one in and it does tighten up things a bit but the amp does not sound as rich. Back to the drawing board
