Or would I need some different resistors or something?

I thought KT90's might be cool in my VHT 2150 or Rivera TBR-2SL.

thoughts?

stupid idea?

Won't fry anything. Might need a re-bais though. Might be cool. Depends on your personal taste of what you want out of a tube.

What Satellite said. You really do want a re-bias, don't swap them and judge the tube after that. I don't know the VHT 2150 but make sure there is room as the 90 is taller than an 88. I use them in VHT UL's and like them.

Most important question: Which KT90 do you plan to use?

Electro Harmonix KT90 is the only one I;m seeing readily available.

I asked to avoid having to explain the EI Type II and Type III story. EH is the thing to stick with for now. Not as good sounding as the old EI's but good enough, consistent, and tough. You will feel a tighter low end and more stiffness. Highs may suffer some depending on other factors. Enjoy!

Yep, I already stumbled upon some stuff in Google about the EI stuff not being compatible or something.

I wonder if I'm going to run into clearance problems?:horse

clearence - I don't have any EH's at home, but an EI measures 4 1/4" from the bottom of the base (the point where the pins meet the base) and the top.

The EI stuff is compatible (and better sonically when you get a good one) but the quality was horrible towards the end so knowing how to pick out the good ones is a biotch.
