I have a 4 CD set of a couple of nights worth of shows and Jeff continues to make my head spin. Supported by Tal on bass the sets were simply amazing.

Is this on a DVD?

In the future if the question where asked, "so what can you do with a Stratocaster?".
There would have to be a long answer with much Jeff Beck involved.

EXCELLENT post!

Thanks!

I don't think there is a DVD planned for release, which is a huge disappointment.

Yeah, I did some research after this and I guess there's supposed to be CD released next year.

The BBC site has the whole show but you have to be in the UK to view it.
Dam you Britts! ;-)

He isn't a guitar player, he's a guitar manipulator. I've had to keep going back to see what he's doing to get some of those sounds, and he does it so tastefully, there is no weird for weird sake stuff going on like some guys do.

Tal is a great bass player and so cute, I've been making sounds usually elicited by kittens and puppies at her!

That might be the best I've heard him play, I watched all of those vids with my jaw on the floor.
What reverb is he using? It's fat as hell!

There are times when you see someone who excels at their craft and inspires you to new heights....

This aint one of those times!!!!

This is one of those times you wanna say F@&% it and toss the guitar in the trash 'cause you know you've seen something you'll never in a million years even come close to......

Let me get this straight......Jeff Beck has been tops since, what, '65?

That's 44 years now. I'd call that aging gracefully!

Not necessarily my favorite pieces from Beck's repertoire and history, some are a bit too shmaltzy or fusiony for my taste, I prefer more rock. But they are really great performances, professionally filmed. Easily the best examples I know of Beck on video/film.

These were obviously shot and edited with the idea of putting out a dvd. Why this is being released as a cd instead is beyond me. I would buy the dvd in a second but not the cd. Hopefully if the dvd is eventually released, it will come with the option of a "beck cam", the opportunity to just watch the camera focused on his fingers. Like magic in a bottle.

Who said it's not being released as a DVD? They're releasing both a DVD and a CD, AFAIK. The CD is coming out first. LAst I heard the DVD was coming out in January '09.

Tell me where I can buy that DVD and I'm on it like ugly on ape. So much of what Jeff can do, and very little of the sound effect filler. Beautiful.

I stand corrected

from the eagle rock website:
"Recorded over a series of gigs with standing-room-only crowds, the electricity was bouncing off the walls as Beck was clearly inspired himself and egged on by the perfect complement of bandmates. A DVD of the event, the first such live concert DVD as authorized by Jeff Beck, will be available in 2009."

As has been said the DVD (and blu-ray disc) with same track list is supposed to be coming in January. Clapton did two numbers with him, they should have showed both. The Friday and Thursday night gigs are out there on bootleg.

He is touring Australia, Japan and the UK next year and is said to be currently working on a new studio album.

I was at the last (FridaY) Ronnie Scott gig, it was brilliant. He also did a rockabilly set first with a different band. He works with a minimum of pedals. An amp channel switcher, Snarling Dog Wha and an old ring modulator. The box on his amp was for delay and chorus effects.
