Buzzzzzzzz Help Needed

I recently loaded a Marshall 1922 2x12 cabinet with two new speakers to run with a Marshall style head. A Greenback and a G12H30. Everything is tight secure etc. I am a home player and even at my modest levels, things either seem a miss or I hate one of the two speakers. With any sort of overdrive, there is a long farting/buzzing decay-even at fairly low volumes-od pedal makes it even worse. I got down and listened at ear level and it appears that it is coming from one speaker vs both-my question is-there are 2 16ohm speakers loaded in the cab. Can I disconnect one to test it? If so, should I plug my cable into the 16ohm tap vs the 8 on the head?

Sure why not- and if you do you might as well match the impedance.

If its a raspy buzz you might have coil rub. However if it os coil rub you would hear it playing clean also.Bob
