Hey guys, hopefully someone can help out. I've been wanting some Zeppelin drum tracks to jam/record over, but I don't have access to a good drummer with a recording setup. Also, most of the backing tracks out there now are pretty terrible and they're just not cutting it any longer.

Does anyone here know of someone who might be willing to record some drum tracks and send them over? Thanks.

I wish I could help out...the drummer we play with does a great Bonzo...but when we go to record, he loses the "magik" if you know what I mean.

But its great for rehearsals and playing live...he just needs more time recording with the red light on.

Yeah, I can relate to that. It's hard to do your best when you're on the spot.

I appreciate it anyway though. Thanks, man.

Do you have his email? Perhaps I can get ahold of him and see if he could help out?

Buy EZDrummer and you'll have all the Bonzo you need.

I already have it actually, but I'm certainly no drummer, so programming it well has always been a problem not to mention extremely tedious. The midi files already out there leave A LOT to be desired.

I'll see what I can do...however I don't know what he could do as far as recording as I had the recording setup.

I have those already actually. Great stuff.

What I need though are the drum tracks to specific songs from the early Zeppelin catalogue.

That bass drum is very open sounding. I remember hearing about how Jim Keltner was in the studio and went over and pinged it with his finger and it sustained for 10-20 seconds. Then he asked in an atonished tone, "How do you play this?" It was cool because it's the opposite of what most drummers try to do with deadening their kit. It's a good example of how things work in context with the rest of the group. That kit feels like it fills all the space all by itself.

I love that open sound. He was such a loud and powerful drummer, so no wonder people said they had trouble mic'ing him at first, but when they finally learned that they needed to give him room to breathe, they definitely captured it right...wow.

I read an interview from one of their studio engineers, can't remember who it was, maybe Andy Johns, said that the way Bonzo tuned his kit was what gave him that signature sound. Apparently, just about anyone could bang on those drums and they'd have that Bonzo sound as a result.

I suspect that it's mostly true because there's a video clip of a live Zeppelin show out there where Robert decided to jump on Bonzo's drumkit for a minute and he was just playing around...guess what? He sounded like Bonzo. Then Keith Moon came out of nowhere and all hell broke loose! Haha, it's a blast to watch. Check this out at around 5:40...

Bonzo hit hard, but he hit right.
Much of the magic of Bonzo's tone was his fine technique.
No one's sounded just like that before or since...
