I have a '74 Dual Showman Reverb, with master volume. There is no reverb, and I'm hoping you guys can tell me which reverb tank I should get, so I could get it working again.

Accutronics? Someone told me I should go for the 4AB3C1C (not 4AB3C1B), because it mounts to front of the amp head baffle board. Can anyone help me verify this please?

Thanks

"Someone" gave you good advise!

I usually replace dead Fender tanks with the 3-springs tanks, specifically 9AB2C1B. IMO, they sound more lush than the 2-spring tanks. One other note - the 2-spring can you were pointed to is a long-decay version (4th digit indicates length). The stock Fender tanks in the older amps are pretty close to the current Accutronics medium-decay. I installed one long-decay tank and had to switch it out a week later because the customer hated the long tail (I didn't like it either - too murky IMO). So, if you go with the 2-spring tank, you would want 4AB2C1B. But, these notes are just my opinion - YMMV.-Darren

Interesting. So a 3-spring (Type 9) with medium decay might sound closer to the original fender reverb tank? Also, any undesirable effects if I take a B (9AB2C1B or 4AB2C1B) and mount it on the back of the front grill? :huh

You'll need to go through the Accutronics product pages to find a version suitable for verticle mounting. Offhand, I can't remember which digits specify verticle or horizontal mounting.

Tonally, I believe the medium-decay sounds closer to the older tanks. But, that is JMHO.
