I get plenty of compliments on this one.
I wear it all the time, so it has an air of authenticity complete wiuth red dirt and horse hair.

Whatever you do DON'T wear the SRV hat! Seen guys do that and it's sad.
I'd suggest a cool beanie or one of those weird hats Satch wears. Not a satch fan but don't mind the hat. Or if you play C+W it's a no-brainer - do as Brad Paisley does. What about a flatcap?

My head is shaved and ....
I think this is good advice.
With winter coming and your head being shaved I would stay away from a "cool" hat and stick with a warm one;

I've actually found lots of cool hats at Target lately, of all places. Porkpie hats, caps, etc. Usually around 10-15 bucks.
I like to mix it up with hats these days, mainly to cover up the ole egg in the nest. Why can't they hurry up and invent the hair restoration pill already??

I was JUST about to add that. Target is great! I bought a couple pork pies that I NEVER would have worn before, but I get compliments on them all the time.
Cool and a nice change from a ball cap.

Nowadays I sometimes sport what young SoCal miscreants used to refer to as a "campo". It is a cross between a welders cap and a train engineers cap, made out blue denim. These used to be issued in SoCals juvenile correctional institutions. They haven't issued them in a long time. But back in the day, you smuggled them out of Camp Snoopy and wore it on the street for some instant tuff-guy stripes.
Another thing I used to do back in the days: If we were on an out of town gig, I'd procure a ballcap repping the local sports team. (Extra points for small towns with minor league, college, HS, or non-big-league teams) At the end of the gig, you frisbee the chapeau into the crowd. They always go wild. (If your out of the country, say Europe or Latin America, the local soccer teams beanie is the way to go. Just be VERY careful and ask a local first. Don't wanna be wearing the wrong gear onstage. Those soccer fans are psycho.)

A panama hat is very nice, plus appropriate when you play outdoors in summer.
There's a site called Hats in the Belfry that has a good selection of all types of hats.

Thats the hard thing about finding a hat...it's a fine line between finding that cool avant-garde hat or looking like a total dork...and sometimes the difference shifts depending on where you are.
http://www.easleys.com/ProductImages/hats/vikinghelmet15673.jpg
We've got a friend who's the butt of all "big head" jokes because well, he's got a HUGE NOGGIN!!
For instance, he played qb in middle school, but the team couldn't get a helmet that fit so the only one they could get was a Red helmet from the highschool team while the rest of the team wore white. The opposing coach used to yell, "Tackle the kid with the red helmet!!!"
So, I was throwing a costume party in cambridge back in 2000. He comes dressed as Sam Adams and pulled it off perfectly, while our other friend wore a viking outfit.
Ole' BigHead asks if he can try the viking helment on and without skipping a beat, our friend says, "Well I'll Be... I've never seen a Jewish Viking before!!!"
I guess the point of this meandoring is that if you've got a huge bean ontop of your shoulders, don't wear a small hat!

Kind of. They're denim and have pleats in them. SDPD would stop a kid wearing one and haul him off. Kind of like a grown up wearing a county jail shirt. Anyways, they stopped making them a long time ago. If the kids in North County are sporting them, I doubt it's the same thing. Used to be a Southeast San Diego type thing.....but hey, fashions do make comebacks.

You could do the Gestapo cap and jack boots like Jimmy Page did in Chicago 1977!! I think Joe Perry did something similar last year but his may have been a Russian military version.
Marc Ford had a cool fedora on the 2006 Crowes summer tour. I think he still wears it.

Hats do not look cool on stage. I see someone wearing a hat (or bandanna) on stage, my first thought is, 'bald'. In my last band, 3 out of 4 of us were bald, all shaved their heads. I almost felt left out. ;^) Just let your playing do the talking and quit worrying about the bald head. With sooooo many dudes shaving their heads nowadays, noone will even give it a second thought.
