How's that for acronyms?
Listening to it now. It's a damn good cd and Ritchie is awesome on it.

it depends. If you consider "good" for DP to be In Rock, Machine Head, Burn, and Perfect Strangers...then yes, it's the last good record.
If you are into decent songs with in some cases, some nice guitar work - well, there is some very good guitar work on the House of Blue Light and even Slaves and Masters. The Battle Rages On is just aweful though.

I didn't think it was that great, and certainly not in the same league as In Rock, Fireball, etc...
The title tune is one of Blackmore's best though, in the vein of Stargazer and Gates Of Babylon

For more modern day DP, although it is now 23 years old, I always liked the tones on Perfect Strangers. I wish I had seen them on that tour-never got to see DP with RB!

Yeah; I don't think it was a great record; title track was okay though. The last good one with DP he did was probably Burn - I like Stormbringer too but, with the exception of a few tracks, it's not really a Blackmore-sounding album. I think Blackmore begins to lose it in 1979 with The Rainbow Down To Earth release. Around this time it goes down hill very quickly and it all descends into an obvious pursuit for commercial success - or a dedicated attempt to crack into the American pop charts. There are still good tracks on later Rainbow and DP records and some good live performances but he seems to be going through the motions and just imitating himself.
For me, PS faded, I don't like it as much as when it came out.
House of Blue Light isn't far behind, it has a couple nice "car" songs.
But hey, it beats 80ties Rainbow :)
I also like 1995 Rainbow, Stranger in us all. Blackmore really kicked during that period. Too bad nobody noticed. Might have to do with a band of food musicians that nobody knew about either.

I think Perfect Strangers is a great album. Lot's of catchy tunes (knockin at yer back door, hungry daze, wasted sunsets, gypsy's kiss). Great solo's from Richie, good screams from Ian, what's not to like?

IMO, Perfect Strangers was not only a reunion but also a welcome return to form for the whole hard rock/heavy metal genre. House of Blue Light saw DP headed for another direction that ultimately did not sit well with me.

I don't know what all the acronyms mean but it sure was entertaining while it was on the air!

I haven't even thought about that album in 20yrs. I liked it a lot at the time. It was the last DP album I bought.

I like 80's Rainbow more than this album : Straight Between The Eyes was ok to good, and Bent Out Of Shape was half awful, half great to me.
I saw Rainbow on their reunion tour, and that was a huge disappointment : it was obvious that he didn't like what he was doing, and the new material seemed like knockoffs from classic Rainbow tunes played by a generic metal band.
Best I've heard from him in ages is the new Blackmore's Night single 'Crystal Ball'

Funny, after Perfect Strangers I had high hopes but was disappointed with House of Blue Light. I found Battle Rages On to be a return to form. To each his own or in other words one man's meat...

I'd agree with this statement, except I think TBRO isn't THAT bad.

I'm not sure of the spelling, but it was a small country called Mipos (Meepos?).

There's not enough information to answer your question. (In other words; your acronyms don't make sense to me!)

I saw them a year or two after Perfect Strangers came out and they were really good.
