I have a tweed Blues Jr. and there is a staticy distorted sound coming out of it while playing certain frequency ranges. It usually only occurs in the mid-range, like bar chords around the 8th fret, and fades out with the chord. It almost sounds like a blown speaker, but it happens at pretty low volume levels, and doesn't distort when playing a low chord like an E.

I have driven the amp with a sub octave from my POG and Whammy before, but never at too high a volume level, so I'd be surprised if I blew the speaker but I suppose it's possible. All tubes are glowing and set in place, and everything else looks normal. I don't have much knowledge at all about tube amps, and can't figure out what's causing it. Any suggestions? Any help is much appreciated

Any chance of having a different speaker to plug into to see if it is doing it there as well?

I plugged it into another Blues Jr's speaker and the problem wasn't there, so it obviously is the speaker in mine. Could I have blown it? What else could it be if it's not a blown speaker? Thanks for the help.

If it doesn't happen with a different speaker, then your speaker is probably blown. Not a lot else it could be. A speaker that sounds blown sometimes, is usually blown.

The only thing is it doesn't sound nearly intense enough to be a blown speaker, it's a subtle crackling/ staticy sound, and it only happens when I play certain notes on the guitar. Fretting the G string around the 12th fret causes it to happen the most intensely, so it's not like low end triggers it or anything. What else could it be?

A blown speaker can do that. Not much else could. Blown speakers don't have to sound intensely blown, even just a rub can do it.

Check out page 19. Lots of info here. I'm having the same issue with my vibrolux.
