Being invloved with the Montreal Guitar Show, I am proud to be able to promote the great work of luthiers from around the globe.
And while doing so, I have had the joy to meet some of the best luthiers around. They are true artists in their own right and they are amazing human beings.
So for me, it was an easy decision to decide to create my own luthier guitar collections.
I’m not a good guitar player... But I a am a true lover of the instrument! And as a collector I feel a special connexion to the archtop guitar.
My work with the Montreal Jazz Festival is of course one of the reasons. But I would had to that the conviction that archtop makers are in a class of themself. Are they closer to the old school violin makers? Probably. And as I was introduced to music first through violin and as the movie THE RED VIOLIN is one of my all time favorite, like the true marketer thet I am...
I decided to create a THEME GUITAR COLLECTION...
And there goes the RED GUITAR COLLECTION.
Yes I know after the Chinery Blue Collection, I'm not that original... But guys... RED!!! Love, blood, wine, cherry, ferrari... need I say more?
My demands to the guitar makers chosen for my collection are very simple. I want an archtop guitar, red. And that’s it!
I only add the following request... «Make me a one of a kind guitar that will make you proud. Don’t hold back!»
So here is the first one... I might just be the luckiest guy there is!!!
The Facets Archtop by Mario Beauregard...

So far, Michael Greenfield, Tom Ribbecke, Michael Lewis and Peter Hopkins...
I used to collect vintage guitars... I still do, but sold a few guitars to jumpstart the red collection...

My lord that is beautiful.
I saw Chinery's Blue Guitar collection at the Smithsonian and have the book. The only thing that could be better with those guitars...is they could be red.
I can't wait to see more. Good luck!

That's really awesome. I've been working on a smaller body semi-hollow electric archtop of mine for a while now... Man I guess I am going to have to paint it red now.

What a brilliant idea. A few vintage guitars sold could fund a nice collection of new archtops.

And we never know... they could become the new classic guitars in the future!
But mostly I can tell you that it is a real treat to have a great artist like a luthier built a guitar... just for you. The whole process is such a joy!

great idea on the red collection since i much prefer red to blue myself. however you've forgotten to order a guitar from the best of the best. Cris Mirabella of www.mirabellaguitars.com get one of his trap door guitars in red and you won't be sorry! he's building a blue one and i keep telling him he needs to do a red one so this is the perfect chance for that to come true. amazing guitars from one of the best builders out there. he just has the touch that others don't have and he's the only builder i'd put in the class of Monteleone without having to sell your car and house to pay for the guitar like a Monteleone lol.

I actually know Cris. He has been exhibiting his great guitars at the MOntreal Guitar Shwo (which I organize).
He would be indeed a great pic for my collection... But first, I need to pay for the ones that are coming...
Hopefuly one day though!
More pics just for fun!

Hi, just a note on this. The guitar on destroyallguitars is my guitar and I agreed they would use the pictures. The red facets archtop as you see in this post is a special one of a kind project that Mario did for me (yes I know I am veeeeeeeery lucky!).
If you are interested in a facets archtop by Mario (any color!) I am sure Mario will be happy to do it of course.
But I need to tell you that a few weeks ago I entered Mario shop at night an stole all remains of this specific red... It is now at AREA 51 next to the alien guy :Devil

These guitars are all amazing. Ok, time to take some antacid from my gas that's acting up every time I read this forum.
I would like to thank everybody for the kind words and the support.I just returned from Europe and to find this kind of reaction about my work is very comforting! It was a long term project ,it took about two years to develop (in between my regular production) and I decided to only offer it in a limited serie of 12. There are only 6 left and whoever is interested can contact me directly for any inquiries.I am very proud to have offered #01 to Jacques-André Dupont for his red collection.I think he is doing something great for the luthiers community not only with his collection but especially with the Montreal guitar festival. It is a very important event for our community and it as been a great success so far. IMHO it is the best festival of all festivals I have attended .Everybody should definately check it out!!!!

This is the only one of it's kind and I am happy that J-A found inspiration with this guitar. That combined with Mario's vision to experiment with the facets concept turned out to be an incredible combination.

FAZMATER! You are absolutely right... I got the idea of doing a red archtop guitar collection 2 years ago, in a veeeeeeery cold but very sunny February day I visited Mario's shop as he was doing some work on your amnazing guitar...
He said come outside to see this amazing guitar...
He flipped it around and show me this amazing red color in the sun...
And guess what... I had my camera with me...
So here is a picture of that moment... the moment I decided I was going red... Thanks to your guitar... And Mario of course...

Wow thanks for that comment! It is reassuring that I'm able to touch some of you enough so you invest some of your precious time and money to come and meet amazing luthiers in Montreal!
Thanks you made my day!
If you come to Montreal next summer I will have another one with a very special twist!!! You will have to come up to see the unveiling!!!(I think I will be showing that red guitar again with the rest of my show if Jacques-André agrees!)
