I just bought this:
http://www.gbase.com/Stores/Gear/GearDetails.aspx?Item=1848439

The guitar looks much better in person, and sounds and plays absolutely unbelievably well. It's hands down the best guitar I have ever played.
I am very fortunate to own this!
I will try to record some sound-clips of it soon.

Here are some clips I just recorded of the Collings. One clean and one with overdrive. I appologize for the cheezy playalong...

WOW!!!!!!!!

Clips sound great!!!!!!!!!!! Great pure tone! I love your harmonic voice. For me its a perfect mix of blues, straight and modern/fusion jazz. I hear them all and its makes fun to listen to.

Gorgeous guitar and great playing as well. The SoCo pretty much tops my lust list right now, and hearing how great it sounds isn't helping my will power much. Enjoy that beast!

Looks beautiful -- congrats!

I found upper fret access to be a bit of an issue on my I-35 -- looks like that's not a problem with the Soco. Have you played an I-35? If so, how does the SoCo compare?

I think the playability and the upper fret access on the Soco is excellent. Very comfortable. The neck is the best I've ever played. Don't remember exactly how the i-35's upper fret access is, but I really liked that guitar as well.
Both are amazing, the soco might be slightly more open-sounding and acoustic sounding than the I-35.Since I play a lot of jazz it made more sense for me to go with that one(allthgouh the I-35 would have been great for jazz as well). I find myself more attracted to the design of singlecutaway instruments as well.
The two soco's and two I-35's I tried where all amazing.

This thread inspired me to try a SoCo this weekend. I played a beautiful one in my local mom and pops store.

Really dug the look and feel. Also, I had just played an Eastman thinline, before TX14 something or other I think. I noticed a huge difference in the overall design/build quality. The soco sat in my lap with perfect balance. The eastman's neck fell straight to the floor. :(

The looks on the Soco are killer - love the knobs and details - very stylish imo.:BluesBros

I agree, the Soco is well-balanced. It feels very comfortable with a strap as well.

I saw this guitar in the window of Rudys in Manhattan , NY and loved the eastern maple top-just gorgeous . It was the best looking Collings I had ever seen . There is an I-35 for sale in the Emporium with the same top and finish. Must have been made from the same run. Very tempting.
