My machinist called to inform me today that his CNC router went nuts on my cocobolo back that was for the NAMM guitar build... Looks like it is going to have to be a mahogany back instead. I have a piece of that crotch Cuban that I was going to use for a bass top as it is big enough for it. Looks like I am going to have to use it for that guitar instead. It'll look just like the back of that bass but all mahogany instead of using purpleheart. I do have enough cocobolo to make a cover for it but I don't have time to match thicknesses. The knot actually will end up right in the middle of the cover, so that will be cool.

Also, today, while preparing that back piece, my dual action finishing sander decided to break a tooth or two in the gear so it looks like I will have to replace it tomorrow... I've probably had it 25 years. It just can't handle the loads of all this guitar work. Some days, it just doesn't pay to get out of bed...

Sorry to hear this.

Glad your thumb wasn't involved...

Good luck getting ready for NAMM.

Boggs, it never actually pays to get out of bed, we just begin to smell real bad if we don`t.
