"Your basic guitarist/music provider/instrumentalist is a tolerated prick...and that's great because they give you something so wonderful."

from the BBC "Imagine - The Story of the Guitar" episode 3 (http://xhgc18.blogspot.com/2008/10/imagine-story-of-guitar-this-time-its.html).

Many great quotes in that show, but that one stood out the most to me.

I thought lead singers were the pricks we tolerated? Especially Iggy. Read his book, Open and up and Bleed. So funny.

EVERYBODY is a prick in one way or another in a band. You might not think you are, but you never know how others perceive you, and perception is reality for every individual. That's why good bands are powerful, 'cuz it's a bunch of pricks temporarily putting aside their differences to focus on creating something, and that is a rare thing in this world.

I met Iggy back in '97 and he was ridiculously NORMAL! I was disappointed...
