Wow -
One of the biggest legends in my time, Merle Haggard, had an operation to remove a cancerous portion of one of his lungs.

Merle is a GIANT among songwriters and singers. Best of luck and continued improved health to him.
Thanks, Dana O.

I grew up singing his songs, been doing it since the late 60-s when I was just a kid. ...and still sing his songs in honky tonks all over E. Tx when I get a chance.
No artist is more important to me.

Good luck Merle!! My Dad had this operation (one of the first in IL, from what I was told) back in the early 80's (Thanks to Pall Mall) - he lived almost 30 more years, actually, so let's keep the optimism!!

Get Well Soon.
Merle is awesome... seen him play awhile back, opening for Bob Dylan. Shoulda headlined. He probably played half the leads that night... just wish he woulda played "The Legend Of Bonnie And Clyde".

That's too bad, I sure hope he recovers well, and that he is comfortable.

Not to mention Fightin' Side of Me:
They love our milk and honey
But they preach about some other
way of livin'
Apparently, years of :bong has mellowed Merle out considerably.

Merle is as cool as it gets. I remember my dad playing his records back in the 70's.
I wish him the best. He's got a pretty serious health issue on his hands.

i reread a portion of his autobiography last night
one of my favorite parts is where he describes house boating with his buddy on lake shasta
his buddy had an ultra light aircraft, one of the real small ones, where the guy is not enclosed, and it has those fabric kite like wings,
the friend would cruise the shoreline looking for women sunbathing, and looking like they were ... err, approachable
once the target was spotted, he would radio back to merle and merle would bring around the houseboat and the two dudes would engage the women in conversation, and maybe later they may have some drinks, and ... other social activities would ensue
