Has anyone tried the new(er) Vox JamVox? I've always used the Korg Pandoras (currently using the 5 series), but I'm curious if there's something that does everything the Korg does better. How are the guitar tones in comparison?

Thanks!

I was curious, too.

I don't own the unit, but the most interesting function to me is the Guitar XTracktion software which can supposedly remove the guitar solo from any track. Check this out...it actually works.

That looks way cool! Anyone actually bought one of these and tried it out?

Didn't even know it existed until I saw this thread...

Some pretty cool stuff there as well as on the other videos on it on You Tube. I`m not the most computer literate guy around but it seems pretty self explanatory.

Just watched some of the vids at http://www.myjamvox.com/videos.html and for $250 this looks pretty killer.

Lets be honest , how long will it hold your interest , to me just another gadjet .
sorry but thats how I look at these things, I have bought a few and dont use any of them any more .
rather just play through my stuff or a acoustic.
These things just have to many bells and whistles and I just end up wasting lots of time on them. rather buy another cheap guitar

If you listen carefully, when you remove the guitar track the rest of the original/backing track seriously loses quality...that's a no no for me.

As brilliant as this package is, that would kill it for me.

Is not Korg and Vox working together?

They've been working together for years, if I'm not mistaken Vox owns Korg, or the other way around.
I remember when I got my Vox Tonelab 5 or 6 years ago, even then they were one and the same thing.

^Yes, I was thinking Korg/Vox/Marshall have been in bed together for a while now.

This is dependent on several things - how the track was mixed, and your skill at adjusting the extraction/reduction parameters. At worst, the quality is quite usable for it's intended purposes. You are right, it is a brilliant package. YMMV, but I'm finding it one of the most useful learning tools I've found in decades.

tried it. Not bad. To remove the guitar tracks, from what i can tell, it pretty much just scoops the mids out. You can't use this unit without having it plugged into the computer and you lose a great deal of sound quality. A good idea, but the technology needs improving

If I read it right (if) it can remove vocals as well as guitar and actually render the removed data to another track or direct it out of the mix. (!!??) That's pretty sophisticated if true. Any verification on that?
