I noticed that recently I was getting a high pitched ringing noise underneath certain notes/chords when I played my Les Paul through my amp. It's a similar 'feedback' type noise you get with microphonic valves. So I swapped another set of valves in, and the noise was still there.
It was by chance that I was strumming my Les Paul unplugged, and noticed the ringing noise underneath some chords. When I listened closer I noticed that on some strings, there is a high pitched 'feedback' ring underneath the notes as they ring out.
I tried a new set of strings and the ring is still there, so I'm unsure what to try next. I honestly don't know if that ring has always been there, as I've never noticed it before, and it's something that's only just come up. I'm certain it's not a microphonic valve, as I've swapped in different valves, and it's always the same. I'm pretty sure it's the guitar, as the same ringing noise I hear through the amp, is the same ring you can faintly hear acoustically from the guitar.
