First, I'm a huge Petty fan, but more importantly, Mike Campbell fan. Mike Campbell is the perfect guitar player, and if there is anyone I wish I could play like, it would be him. Perfect ear. Perfect tone. Perfect taste for playing exactly what the song needs and nothing more.

Anyway, they're in their barn/studio playing all the tracks off the Mudcrutch album and I'm just salivating at all the gear in this place. It's freaking crazy. Had to be close to a million bucks worth of gear (or more) in this place. You have to check it out. Must be 300 guitars laying all over the place. Amps like crazy.

Great documentary, although a lot of it is from "Running Down a Dream," which is truly fantastic if you don't own it. Probably the best I've ever seen for one of these.

Yeah, Running Down a Dream filled up a weekend when my wife was away (no parties for me). Good stuff. I didn't know they had something on VH1 as well - I am going to have to watch for it. Guitars laying all over the place? Amps like crazy? Ah, they need to do a coffee table book a'la Billy Gibbons!!

Especially interesting considering that Petty pretty much lost a ton of stuff in the fire at his house years ago.

The Mudcrutch CD is awesome. I wish he would have played some of that material at the Superbowl last year.
