It didn't even occur to me that that is a new one. I thought it was the original at first.

If that is Marc's take on a MKII fuzz circuit, it is most likely kick ass, like his other pedals!:D

Its not. Its a new muff version. I would love to see him build something like a tonebender though.

i'm surprised he's still going for the sticker paper with these??
i was hoping he was progressing to powdercoat / silkscreen.

I believe he is only doing that for pedals he plans to build for a long time. The others are still custom pedals essentially.

strange that someone on ebay would have one without anyone else on the list getting one. i think this might just be a one-off...already $$$ though. i bet it sounds wonderful too

Same here. Got the "on list" reply. Marc got married recently so I'm sure he has been busy with that. Hopefully they are in the pipeline--would be a GREAT early Christmas present to myself!:AOK
I got the below update in my email awhile ago. Marc must be just going through his waiting list one by one if theres one on eBay already.
"Thanks for your patience and your interest in this special Skreddy
project. I've finished tweaking the sound of this limited-edition
fuzz using some rare transistors from Scotty's stash. I haven't yet
designed the graphics or started producing your pedal, but at least
I'm done picking out all the exact parts that will define every
subtlety of its tone.
Here's a quick rundown of what you can expect:
1. It's not a clone of anything per se. Unlike its predecessor, the
first CogDis, it is not a clone of the triangle-knob Big Muff Pi.
Yes, it is a Big Muff design, but it won't sound like any other that
has gone before, either made by me or Electro-Harmonix or anybody
else.
2. The sound is tight yet loose, modern yet vintage. I know this
doesn't help at all, but it is hard to explain. I really wanted this
pedal to be first and foremost USEFUL. It's not too woofy but it's
not thin either. The fuzz has a bit of ToneBender flavoring, some of
that old-school hair, but it's not a vintage-style fuzz. And I
haven't filtered out the high end like I did in my Pink Flesh. You
can hear all of the details in the distortion, but none of it is harsh
or too trebly--it's just got a pleasing edge to it and is very fun to
play.
3. Overall, the frequency response is similar to my Pink Flesh design;
in other words, it's got a thick, sustaining voice and a midrange
emphasis rather than a scooped tone. Except that I've changed the
tone control to make it more transparent. At every setting and even
at the extremes of the knob settings, you will hear more of the
natural guitar frequencies. It's a less intense band-pass than you'll
be used to hearing from a Big Muff design: at full clockwise, there
will still be a natural fullness, and at full counter-clockwise, there
will still be a natural presence. It will have the Pink Flesh's
"flat/juicy" tone switch, but it's definitely not a Pink Flesh clone
or replacement.
4. There won't be a huge range of low-gain settings; it will be pretty
fuzzy all of the time.
I'll be in touch when I have one available for purchase. Thanks
again, and talk to you soon.
Best regards,
Marc
http://skreddypedals.com"
Also, it looks like there IS a bit of Tonebender in the new CD "MK II".

Sorry for taking so long. I had shipped out the first couple of Cog
Dis MkII's a couple of weeks ago, when I suddenly decided I hated its
tone. (It was way too high gain and ragged) I re-tweaked it, and now
it's warm and responsive like it ought to be. I have a lot of
finished circuits I have to re-do, though. I'll be in touch soon when
I have one ready for you.

awesome! I've been playing with my Skreddy Echo all evening. It's an incredible pedal. I've been running my BYOC 440 Envelope Filter in the loop and it sounds ace.
You can get so many sounds by playing with the line level trimpot too. Really diverse pedal.

I had one of the other ones Marc intially sent out. I did send it back to get adjusted, though now I wonder if I should have kept it in its original state. It had a real rough nastiness to it. Beautiful singing sustain. The tone knob range was pretty mild. The amount of gain on tap was sick. It had a lot of gain already with the knob all the way down and got nuttier as you turned it higher. ;)
I'm sure the revision is going to be excellent.
BTW can't say enough nice things to say about Marc Ahlfs. He obviously puts a lot of thought and care into his products.

Mine arrived yesterday as well.
Well, it's an excellent pedal. Very balanced in sound, it has a flat/boost mids toggle. I'd call it a Big Muff for people who don't like the scoop and bassiness of a stock Big Muff. Notes have good definition, lots of harmonics, nice sustain.
Good job Mr. Skreddy. :)

I didn't even advertise this--Scotty "released" it, if you recall, before I was ready. I didn't even have a prototype developed yet. The "list" was basically full after the first couple of days of his announcement. I've only had time to build a few so far, but I'll try to keep going and build a few a week if I have time.
My email load has ballooned by 3 or 4 times in the last few months, and it's getting to be a burden; especially when people demand to know the status of a regular-type order when they know there's a 4-month lead time or non-customers ask an endless series of questions and get frustrated if I don't have time for them. Yeah; I know they deserve an acknowledgment, I know I know. I'm trying to catch up on my emails still, but then I get like 50 a day now that need answers from me. I have to get my work done, and I have to take care of my customers. I do not have time for any other demands at this point.
No time; no more special requests or custom graphics please.
No more Cognitive Dissonance MkII list additions at this time. As for the price, you know what this was. It's not a regular thing, and the transistors aren't something we can get more of. It's intentionally "overpriced" though not to the degree that eBay has them. Oh, wait a minute. Nobody's complaining about the price. :drink Well at least you guys are generous with your spending money. :D Thanks!!!
Sorry things are taking so damn long. Really the list is long. :dunno

Imagine if rather than buying aftermarket on ebay, a buyer offered the $750 burning a hole in his/her pocket directly to Marc and said "build me the baddest pedal you can." He'd probably build the most epic dirtbox ever - how about a Screw Driver deluxe, Lunar Module, and his best muff circuit available, with the ability to route them in different orders, maybe an overall master volume, all in one pedal. (I just got :drool thinking about it).
Oh course, as badass as that pedal would be, it would prove to be too valuable to keep because it could fetch $2000 on ebay. :bkw

And yet he STILL finds the time to update us. I MUCH prefer seeing Skreddy charge more since I'd rather put the money directly into his pocket.
Considering, the quality, demand, etc.. the wait times, and prices are MORE than reasonable. I know I can't/shouldn't bring up other builders, but there are plenty with 2 year waits, no correspondence at all (rather than intermittant), and then you still get banged out for $750.
And to SMG's point... I hope that maybe after the crazyness dies down we see more cool custom options eventually... like dual pedals.

I think the regular price for skreddy's is perfectly the ok price! It's in the middle. And allows many regular ppl to have a very good pedal. I don't know if i'd be willing to pay more if the price reached 300$ for the regular run... aside for that CDMKII! ;)

D*A*M handles these types of issues well. When a flood of emails comes in, you make an announcement on the website saying when the list will open, and instructions on how to email a request to be added. What good did it do me to periodically check the skreddypedals.com if the news section doesn't have the news and emailing doesn't get me so much as a "Sorry the list is full" reply. Get a secretary.

:horse Dude give it a break and go buy a D*A*M!

well... you cant.
You can go to Skreddypedals.com and buy a skreddy pedal and have it in four months. You cant actually buy a new DAM pedal currently unless you win an ebay auction (nearly 100% are BINed in 3 seconds or less) or got on a list many moons ago. Lists are supposed to reopen for people that like his fuzzes soon though so those people will be happy.

SkreddyPedals is busy. I mean, if you go to the website you will see "Please allow four months for me to build your pedal" posted EVERYWHERE.
And Marc is great for implementing a 50% down payment option.
Kudos to Skreddy. Keep doing what you're doing.
Marc, just curious, how many Cog Dis MK2's are you making total?
My favourite fuzz box btw.

:agree I've ordered many pedals from Marc and never had a single problem except a build time was slightly longer than predicted. No big deal, it was worth the extra wait! :dude

:dunno
I have an answer for your conundrum good sir: One bourbon, one scotch, one beer. :drink:drink:drink

Has anyone received a Cognitive Dissonance MkII recently?
Just curious if they are trickling out.

I'm just wondering if anyone has gotten one from Marc lately. I understand Marc is very busy taking care of regular orders. Just wondering if these are still coming out. Thanks.

he has a couple different projects that he is currently juggling and I know he was swamped with the Pig Mine orders. I have heard from him a couple times recently and it seems like things are moving along, but when I asked him about the Cog Dis, he said he was running low on parts. I don't know what that means, other than it might still be a while before anyone gets one...
